SHORE CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT

FIRST ROUND

1-Rumson-Fair Haven 16, 16-Point Boro 2

Senior attackman Robbie Garavente had three goals and three assists and senior attackman Henry Sillen had two goals and two assists to reach 100 career points as the Bulldogs (12-3) cruised past the Panthers (6-7) to reach the quarterfinals.

Junior midfielder Garrett Sweeley scored his first varsity goal and also had two assists, and junior midfielder Oliver Heins scored twice. Griffins Schultz, Alex Werner and Bryan Hess also scored, while Wyatt Feinberg had two assists.

The Bulldogs will host eighth-seeded Shore on Tuesday in the quarterfinals.

 

2-Manasquan 23, 15-Lacey 8

Junior attackman Jarrett Birch scored a career-high 10 goals as the Warriors (12-3) blitzed the Lions (7-7) with 14 second-half goals to reach the quarterfinals.

Freshman attackman Canyon Birch scored six goals and junior attackman Joe Tonkovich had six assists. Freshman midfielder James Pendergist had two goals and two assists, junior midfielder Pat Felstedt had one goal and two assists and junior Devan Carroll and senior Paul Krueger each had one goal and one assist. Shawn Anderson and Joe Incorvati each tallied once. Junior goalie Tom Pollock made six saves to earn the win, and freshman goalie Mike LaPoint had three saves.

Senior midfielder Ryan Mahon had two goals and three assists to lead Lacey, which was down 9-6 at halftime. Dylan Vitale and Matt Neri each had two goals and one assist, and Sean Feery and Connor Wilson scored once. Mike Trezza made 13 saves.

Manasquan will host seventh-seeded Wall in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

 

4-CBA 14, 13-St. John Vianney 3

Junior attackman Nick Casner had four goals and one assist, going over 100 career goals in the process, while senior midfielder John Salcedo had three goals and four assists as the Colts (10-5) continued their strong play by dominating the Lancers (7-8).

Senior attackman Shay Walczak had two goals and three assists and senior Cologialo Muscara had one goal and two assists. Shane McGuiness, Ryan Madalone, Robbie Hermansen and Thomas Convery had one goal each. Ryan McGuiness made four saves and Chris Downey made one save.

Andrew Porretta had two goals and Chris Kelly scored once for St. John Vianney. Ryan Gilfillan had two assists and D.J. Soriano made 13 saves.

CBA will host fifth-seeded Ocean in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

 

5-Ocean 18, 12-Brick Memorial 10

Senior attackman Joey Appio had one goal and seven assists and junior midfielder Sam Hanna had five goals and three assists as the Spartans (12-1) shook off a slow start to run past the Mustangs (10-3) and into the quarterfinals for the second year in a row.

Appio's seven assists gave the Florida Southern signee 211 for his career. The state record is 217 by Glen Ridge's Alex Lopes (2002-2005). Appio has 58 assists this season after posting 64 last year.

Freshman midfielder Mike Nies added four goals and freshman attackman Holden Lowe had a hat trick. Senior midfielder Connor Daly also scored three times and senior midfielder Erik Rant had two goals and one assist. Senior Alex Bravo went 21-for-32 on face-offs and junior goalie David Walk had an outstanding game with 20 saves. Walk now has 298 career saves.

Senior attackman Billy Porter had three goals and one assist and junior midfielder Mike Mowder had four goals to lead Brick Memorial. Junior attackmen Gavin Murphy and Moran each had one goal and two assists, and junior midfielder Steven Assante scored once. Junior Hunter Vojtko picked up a game-high eight ground balls and senior goalie Chris Sayers made 12 saves.

Ocean will play at fourth-seeded Christian Brothers Academy in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

 

6-Freehold Township 9, 11-Toms River North 8 (OT)

Junior midfielder Mike Colicchia scored with 1:13 left in the first overtime to give the Patriots (10-4) the win over the Mariners (8-4).

Colicchia finished with two goals and one assist and sophomore attackman Chris Novella had a team-high three goals and one assist. Junior attackman Josh Nastarowicz also had two goals and one assist and senior attackman Matt Lach scored twice. Junior attackman Drew Dunn finished with three assists and sophomore goalie Billy Patten made 10 saves.

Tom Butz had four goals to lead Toms River North. Andrew Lombardi added three goals and one assist and Josh Francis had one goal and two assists.

Freehold Township will play the winner of Monday's first-round game between third-seeded Southern and 14th-seeded Red Bank Catholic.

 

7-Wall 13, 10-Howell 6

Senior attackman Mike Steppe scored six times to lead the Crimson Knights (12-2) past the Rebels (8-6) and into the Shore Conference Tournament quarterfinals.

Sophomore attackman Mike McIntyre and and sophomore midfielder Will Forte each scored twice and senior goalie Zach Harrell made 14 saves. Seniors Casey Foley and Lucas Iarossi and sophomore Tim O'Hern each finished with one goal and one assist. Junior defenseman Joey Belko picked up a game-high seven ground balls.

Senior midfielder Nic Rossi had two goals and two assists to lead Howell. Junior attackman Ryan Damelio also scored twice and Drew Bukowiec and Nico Lorenzo scored once. Sophomore Dan Roberto made 13 saves.

Wall will play second-seeded Manasquan in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
