QUARTERFINALS

SOUTH GROUP III

5-Jackson Liberty 14, 4-Mainland 11

The Lions (13-5) rallied from a two-goal deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat the Mustangs (17-3) and reach the sectional semifinals for the first time in program history.

Senior attackman Tyler Kalmowitz turned in his second straight six-goal performance to lead Jackson Liberty, which scored six times in the fourth quarter after trailing 10-8 entering the period. Senior attackman Matt Ferullo and senior midfielder Walter Matthies each finished with two goals and two assists and sophomore midfielder Max Matthies had two goals and one assist. Senior goalie Chris Mulholland made 14 saves.

Sophomore midfielder Thomas Ferullo had one goal and one assist and junior attackman Dylan O'Connor scored once. Jackson Liberty has also set a program record for wins in a season with 13.

The Lions will face top-seeded Moorestown in the semifinals.

 

3-Shawnee 15, 6-Brick Memorial 1

The Renegades (10-7) opened up a 12-0 halftime lead on their way to eliminating the Mustangs (11-6).

Junior attackman Gavin Murphy scored Brick Memorial's only goal, and with it set the single-season program record with 69. He finished the season with 39 goals and 30 assists.

 

2-Clearview 18, 10-Colts Neck 5

Junior attackman Vinnie Gargiulo scored four times and senior midfielder Justin Cifone scored once, but the Cougars (7-9) fell behind early and could not overcome the Pioneers (14-4). Senior goalie Andrew Halmi made nine saves.

Clearview opened up a 3-0 lead 90 seconds into the game and led 11-0 at halftime.

 

SOUTH GROUP II

5-Hopewell Valley 16, 4-Ocean 6

Nolan Crognale had six goals and two assists and Tyler Krampf tallied four goals and four assists as the Bulldogs (10-9) ran past the Spartans (14-3).

Senior midfielder Erik Rant had two goals and one assist and junior midfielder Sam Hanna scored twice for Ocean. Senior midfielder Connor Daly and freshman attackman Holden Lowe each had one goal and one assist, while senior attackman Joey Appio had one assist. Junior goalie David Walk made nine saves.

 

FIRST ROUND

NON-PUBLIC B

5-Newark Academy 6, 12-St. Rose 5

Junior attackman Griffin McDermott scored two goals and had two assists to lead the Purple Roses (5-11), who were edged by the Minutemen (9-7) in the opening round. William Frost, Shane Reilly and Mike Kinsel each scored once for St. Rose.

1-Delbarton 19, 16-Red Bank Catholic 5

Senior attackman Alec Mintz scored three times, Ryan Marshall and James Mele scored once and Declan Grigg made 12 saves, but the Caseys (7-11) fell to the powerful Green Wave (17-1).
