3-CBA 16, 14-Paul VI 4

Senior attackman Mike Carroll scored three goals and added one assist and senior midfielder Luke Valentino also scored three times as the Colts (18-1) cruised to an opening-round victory.

Sophomore Patrick Convery added two goals and one assist while freshman Dan Martin and senior Dylan Johnston also scored twice. Patrick Gotterup and Ryan Knoeller chipped in with one goal and one assist each and Kevin Junquet and Thomas Convery had one goal each. Chris Downey and Jamis Perrotta each made three saves and Noah D'Andrea had one save.

CBA will host sixth-seeded St. Peter's Prep in the group quarterfinals on Wednesday, May 23.

 

4-Don Bosco Prep 14, 13-St. John Vianney 6

Andrew Gosse scored twice, Anthony Brett had a goal and three assists and C.J. Hanson made 17 saves for the Lancers (7-10), who had their season come to an end at the hands of the Ironmen (12-5) in the first round of the state tournament. Mike D'Anzeri, Mike Noble and Nick Peckyno added one goal apiece.

 

NON-PUBLIC B

10-St. Rose 13, 7-Gloucester Catholic 7

Senior attackman Shane Reilly had a huge game with five goals and three assists to eclipse 200 career points and lead the Purple Roses (9-10) past the Rams (9-6) for their first state tournament victory in 12 years.

Tied at four after the first quarter, St. Rose used a 6-0 run in the second quarter to lead 10-4 at halftime.

Mike Kinsel added four goals, P.J. Dwyer had a goal and an assist and Nolan Boehmcke, Spencer Flynn and Logan LeMoult each scored once. Brendan Perry made nine saves in front of a St. Rose defense that yielded just 16 shots.

Reilly now has 207 career points, just seven behind Matt Frost's 214 for the most in program history.

St. Rose will travel to Bishop Eustace on Wednesday, May 23, for the quarterfinals.
