South Jersey Group 2

2-Rumson-Fair Haven 12, 8-Somverille 6

Rowan Goldin and Patrick Jamin each scored twice with one assist while Wyatt Feinberg, Kiel Forlenza, Sam Mannino and Drew Shaw also scored two goals each as the Bulldogs (15-9) defeated the Pioneers to capture their second straight sectional title.

Rumson jumped out to a 5-2 lead after the first quarter and pushed its advantage to 7-2 at halftime. Somerville scored three times in the third quarter to close the gap to 8-5, but the Bulldogs closed strong with four goals over the final 12 minutes to wrap up the program's fourth state sectional championship.

Rumson will take on Summit in the NJSIAA Group 2 state championship game at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at Shore Regional High School.

 

South Jersey Group 1

1-Manasquan 15, 2-Madison 8

Junior attackman Canyon Birch scored six goals and added five assists and senior midfielder Sean Anderson went 21-for-27 on face-offs as the Warriors (20-2) pulled away from the Dodgers to claim the program's second sectional championship.

Freshman attackman Casey Mulligan added four goals, junior attackman Ryan Anderson had a goal and two assists and midfielders James Pendergist, James Mele, Matt Franzoni and Mike Farinacci each scored once. Junior goalie Mike LaPoint made five saves.

Birch's six goals give him 122 on the season, seven away from tying the state single-season record of 129 set by A.L. Johnson's Matt Poskay in 2001.

Manasquan will play North Jersey Group 1 champion Mountain Lakes in the NJSIAA Group 1 state championship game at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Livingston High School.
