(5) St. Rose 50, (12) Toms River South 46

Senior Brendan Hueth scored eight of his 18 points in the second quarter and the Purple Roses (2-0) held off a late rally by the Indians (0-1) to advance to the WOBM quarterfinals on Dec. 27.

Senior Denzel Wilson scored 13 of his game-high 21 points in the second half and sparked a 12-0 run that closed the St. Rose lead to 47-46 with 30 seconds left. Wilson converted a layup as he was fouled but missed the ensuing free throw that would have tied the game.

John Scheininger made the first of two free throws to push the Roses lead back to two with 22.6 seconds left and a three-pointer by Jalen Folsom missed the mark on Toms River South's final possession. Nick Paterno hit two free throws to put the game on ice.

Senior Jake Regan chipped in 14 points for Toms River South, which led 11-8 through one quarter before St. Rose took control of the game with a 16-8 edge in the second.

(4) Marlboro 52, (13) Donovan Catholic 37

Senior Ryan LaRocca and Daniel Weiss each scored 14 points and the Mustangs (2-0) pulled away to beat the Griffins (1-1) and advance to the WOBM quarterfinals against St. Rose on Dec. 27.

La Rocca scored 12 of his points on four first-half three-pointers, while Weiss keyed a run during the second half that saw Marlboro outscore Donovan Cathoic 26-9 over the final 14 minutes after the Griffins took a 28-26 lead early in the third quarter.

Sophomore Dylan Kaufman added 11 points and 11 rebounds off the bench after missing the opener at Neptune Friday due to illness.

Senior Jared Small led Donovan Catholic with nine points on three three-pointers and junior Jethro Moll dropped eight points in the loss.

(9) Point Boro 59, (8) Jackson Memorial 56

All five Point Boro starters scored in double-figures and the Panthers held off a battle from the Jaguars to advance to the WOBM Classic quarterfinals. Senior Patrick Feehan and juniors Connor Strickland and Connor Costigan all had 12 points apiece and junior John Duda and senior Jack Waddleton each added 10.

Seniors Calvin Blue and Ryan Lucas led four Jackson Memorial players in double-figures with 13 points each. Senior Nick Barba added 12 and senior Andrew Trent pitched in 10 in the loss.

(1) Toms River North 77, (16) Middletown South 58

Senior Jaden Rhoden scored 20 points and added 10 rebounds, six assists and three steals to spark the Mariners (1-0) to a round one win over the Eagles (1-1). Senior Mike Nyisztor added 14 points and junior Mark Mogarte added 10 points while making his firs varsity start. Junior Holden Petrick also poured in nine points in the win.

Junior Ryan Purcell led Middletown South with a game-high 21 pints while classmates David Gervase and Nick Unrath added 14 points apiece. Middletown South cut a 23-point deficit to 10 at 65-55, but the Mariners put the game away with a 10-0 run over a two-plus minute stretch.

Toms River North will play No. 9 seed Point Boro in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, Dec. 27.

(6) Wall 69, (11) Toms River East 53

Senior R.J. Janeczek scored 16 of his team-high 23 points in the second half to go with nine rebounds and the Crimson Knights (2-0) rolled past the Raiders (0-1) and into the WOBM quarterfinals on Dec. 27.

Junior Steve Geis scored 21 points and dished out six assists in the win and senior Gene Scott added nine points and three steals.

Junior Zyaire Dorn scored 20 of his game-high 24 points in the second half to lead Toms River East.

(3) Freehold Twp. 73, (14) Brick Memorial 39

Seniors Steve Staklinski and Ryan Zyskowski both scored 11 of their 13 points each in the first half and Patriots (2-0) blitzed the Mustangs (0-1) to advance to the WOBM quarterfinals against Wall on Dec. 27. Senior Bobby Weise and sophomore Greg Billups each poured in eight points in the win.

Gianni Linfante scored all eight of his points in the first half for Brick Memorial and Colin McMahon scored all eight of his in the fourth quarter.

(10) Red Bank Catholic 63, (10) Manchester 45

Senior Terrence Calandrillo and junior Matt Ansell each scored 18 points and the Caseys (2-0) stepped on the gas pedal in the final six minutes to put the Hawks (1-1) away and advance to the WOBM quarterfinals.

Ansell scored 11 points in the fourth quarter, during which RBC outscored Manchester 28-13. Hawks senior L.J. Robinson scored seven of his team-high 16 points in the third quarter, when Manchester cut a 25-15 halftime deficit to 35-32.

Junior John Kelly also scored eight points for RBC, while freshman Jakari Spence netted 10 for Manchester.

(2) Manasquan 57, (15) Lacey 22

Senior Devin Jensen exploded for 37 points, including 29 in the first half, and the Warriors routed the Lions to advance to the quarterfinal round against Red Bank Catholic on Dec. 27. Jensen shot 13-for-23, knocked down 6-of-11 three-point attempts and went 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. Jensen did all his damage in the first three quarters and sat out the entirety of the fourth quarter.
