At Toms River North HS

(11) Monsignor Donovan 79, (6) Brick Memorial 61

Senior guard Eamonn Kearney led a balanced Griffins attack with 15 points and Monsignor Donovan stormed by the Mustangs and into the quarterfinals. Five Monsignor Donovan players scored at least nine points in the win. Tom Cerami scored 12 points, while James Fata and Jimmy Cleveland each scored 10 points off the bench. Kyle Carrington added nine.

Junior Aaron Scheiderman led Brick Memorial with a game-high 20 points. The Griffins will play No. 3 Toms River South in the quarterfinals.

(3) Toms River South 74, (14) Barnegat 49

Junior Tymere Berry scored a game-high 21 points and the Indians stormed out to an early double-digit lead on the way to a win over the Indians. Senior Marquis Davis and sophomore Tyler Fall each added 16 in the win and senior Darius Hart chipped in nine points.

Junior Kyle Morris led Barnegat with 14 points. Toms River South will play No. 11 Monsignor Donovan in the quarterfinals.

(7) Manchester 56, (10) Toms River North 44

Senior KaShaun Barnes scored 21 points and sophomore Shavon Reynolds added 15 to lead the Hawks past the defending WOBM champion Mariners in round one to give coach Ryan Ramsay his 100th career win. Junior Evan Martin led Toms River North with 14 points.

(15) Toms River East 55, (2) Wall 38

Senior C.J. Hirschy led a balanced scoring attack with 12 points and the Raiders upset the No. 2 Crimson Knights to advance to the quarterfinals against No. 7 Manchester. Justin Gant and Jon Meola each added 10 points apiece for Toms River East, which is off to a 2-0 start with an average margin of victory of 31.5 points after going 4-16 last season.

 

At Pine Belt Arena

(5) Freehold Twp. 65, (12) Central 41

Junior guard Jason Czajkowski scored 21 points to go with five rebounds, five assists and seven steals and the Patriots rolled by the Golden Eagles to avenge a first-round upset at the hands of Central last season. Jordan McGill added 10 points for Freehold Township, which will play Red Bank Catholic in the quarterfinals.

(4) Red Bank Catholic 56, (13) Lacey 45

Junior Joe Montano scored 22 points and the Caseys outlasted the Lions to advance to the quarterfinals against No. 5 Freehold Township. Junior Liam Byrne added 14 points and sophomore Eddie Hahn poured in 12 for RBC.

Junior forward Chris Iapicco led Lacey with a game-high 22 points and freshman Anthony Talarico added 15 for the second straight game. After burying five 3-pointers in his varsity debut against Toms River South on Friday, Talarico hit three more on Saturday.

(9) Point Boro 65, (8) St. Rose 51

Sophomore Peyton Wejnert scored a game-high 24 points to go with seven rebounds and senior Will Boccanfuso added 16 to lead the Panthers past the Purple Roses. Point Boro attempted 36 free throws in the fourth quarter alone, with Wejnert going 14-for-14 and freshman John Venturi hitting 14 of 16 in the game.

Point Boro will play top-seeded Jackson Memorial in Thursday's quarterfinals.

(1) Jackson Memorial 40, (16) Brick 28

The Jaguars finished the game on a 14-2 run to break a tie late in the fourth quarter and outlast the 16th-seeded Green Dragons. Jackson Memorial will play No. 9 Point Boro in Thursday's quarterfinals.

Class B Central

Keyport 70, Ranney 48

Ezra Hill scored a game-high 20 points and the Red Raiders rolled to their second straight division win in as many days by beating the Panthers. Alex Thomson added 15 points and 11 rebounds in the win.

 

Non-Conference

Raritan 79, Academy Charter 47

Sophomore Joe Strand scored 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Rockets to their first win of the season.
