Central Jersey Group III

(2) Long Branch 48, (7) Somerville 45 (OT)

Senior Terrel Cox scored 14 points and set-up senior Hassan Foster's game-clinching three-point play in the final minute of overtime as the Green Wave outlasted the Pioneers to advance to the sectional quarterfinals against No. 6 Red Bank on Friday.

Foster and senior Myeson Pennington each scored 12 points for Long Branch. Matt Cardone led Somerville with 18 points and hit the game-tying free-throws to send the game into overtime.

Long Branch and Red Bank will meet for the fourth time this season, with Long Branch winning two of the three meetings. Both Green Wave wins came in Long Branch and the most recent meeting was a Long Branch win in the Shore Conference Tournament.

(4) Hamilton West 49, (5) Middletown North 45

Senior Ian Wyckoff scored 14 points and junior Dylan Frawley added 10 points an 10 rebounds, but the Lions fell to the Hornets.

(6) Red Bank 67, (3) Neptune 56

Seniors Corey Martin and Johnny Dengler combined for 31 points and the Red Bank defense shut down Neptune's top two scoring threats to help the Bucs knock off the Scarlet Fliers. The win was Red Bank's second over Neptune in three meetings this season and it follows a 17-point loss to the Scarlet Fliers in Neptune on Feb. 6.

Martin finished with a team-high 17 points off the bench, while Dengler had 14. Sophomore Sadiq Palmer chipped in 13 points and 12 rebounds and junior Anthony Mitchell added 12 points and six rebounds for Red Bank, which finished the game on a 17-5 run over the final 2:45.

Sophomore Marque Ellington led Neptune with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while junior Shawn McMillan had 10 off the bench. Seniors Shakeem Richardson and Myles Mooney - Neptunes two top scorers - combined to score 15 points on 2-for-30 shooting from the field.

Red Bank will play another Class B North division opponent in the semifinals Friday, when the Bucs travel to No. 2 Long Branch.

 

Central Jersey Group I

(1) Point Beach 82, (8) Middlesex 50

Senior Noah Yates scored 20 of his 23 points in the first half and the Garnet Gulls pulled away for a decisive victory over the Blue Jays. Senior Matt Farrell poured in 20 points, junior Mike Frauenheim added 15, and junior Chris Schifano chipped in 13 for Point Beach, which played without senior forward Dom Uhl (flu).

Point Beach will host No. 4 Florence in Friday's semifinal.

(2) Shore 69, (10) Keyport 62

Junior Kevin Bloodgood scored a game-high 22 points and buried the go-ahead 3-pointer with two minutes left to help the Blue Devils avoid an upset at the hands of the Red Raiders. Junior Dan Largey added 18 points for Shore, while senior Dan Pillari chipped in 16 in the win.

Senior Ezra Hill scored 18 points to lead Keyport, which led by as many as six in the second half and took a 49-44 lead into the fourth quarter. Senior Alex Thomson, sophomore Travis Alvarez and sophomore Jeff Sheard each scored 12 points in the loss.

 

South Jersey Group III

(12) Central 63, (13) Winslow Twp. 62 (OT)

Junior Evan Lang hit the tying and go-head free-throws in the final seconds of the overtime and the Golden Eagles held on to beat the Eagles and march on to the semifinals on Friday at No. 1 Mainland.

(2) Delsea 84, (7) Lacey 55

South Jersey, Non-Public A

(6) CBA 65, (11) Bishop Ahr 46

Sophomore Pat Andree scored 18 points and junior Jack Laffey poured in 17 to help lead the Colts to a win over the Trojans. Senior Chima Ekekeugbor also scored 12 points and senior Louie Pillari netted 10 in the win. CBA will travel to No. 3 Paul VI for Friday's sectional quarterfinal.

(7) Camden Catholic 73, (10) Monsignor Donovan 60 (2 OT)

(4) Red Bank Catholic 56, (13) Pingry 37

Senior Quenton Nelson scored 17 points and the Caseys topped the Big Blue to advance to Friday's semifinal round against No. 5 Bishop Eustace. Sophomore Evan Madigan added 12 points while junior Kevin Fazio chipped in nine in the win.
