Class A Central

St. John Vianney 62, Red Bank 37

Senior Dan Dinneny scored 17 points and the Lancers (5-9, 3-5) stormed past the Bucs (6-7, 4-4). Junior Zach Moran added 11 points, eight assists, four steals and three blocks, while sophomore A.J. McGimpsey pitched in seven points and 10 rebounds.

 

Class A South

No. 9 Central 72, Southern 51

Senior Denis Corbin turned in a career effort with 26 points and 20 rebounds to help lead the Golden Eagles (13-2, 8-1) to a win over the Rams (4-13, 2-8). Senior Maks Gruszecki added 23 points and senior Anthony Petit-Clair poured in 15 as well for Central. Senior Zion Hardy also contributed nine assists.

Senior Mark Valeriani led Southern with 16 points and junior Thomas Foster added 15 points and five rebounds in the loss. Junior Jake DuBois also pitched in 11 points, four rebounds and five assists for the Rams.

 

Class B Central

No. 1 Ranney 91, Henry Hudson 53

Sophomore Bryan Antoine led six Ranney players in double-figure scoring with 18 points and the Panthers (12-2, 8-0) cruised to a win over the Admirals (1-14, 1-8). Antoine also had four assists and four steals.

Senior Joe Mahoney and junior Kyle Smith each scored 14 points off the bench for the Panthers, who sat their starters for nearly half the game. Sophomore Scottie Lewis scored 13 points, sophomore Alex Klatsky poured in 11 to go with four rebounds and four assists, and sophomore Ahmadu Sarnor pitched in 10 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Senior Tom Fennell led Henry Hudson with a game-high 23 points.

No. 7 Point Beach 54, St. Rose 49

Junior Danny Frauenheim scored 16 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out seven assists as the Garnet Gulls (10-5, 6-3) beat the Purple Roses (9-6, 6-4) to sweep the regular-season series and snap a four-game slide.

Junior Chris Pina added 15 points, seven rebounds and four blocks for Point Beach, which grabbed control of the game with a 21-2 run spanning the end of the second quarter and the first five-plus minutes of the third. By the end of the run, the Gulls had flipped a 25-17 deficit into a 38-27 lead.

Junior Trevor Covey added 12 points for Point Beach. Senior Billy Frost, meanwhile, led a balanced scoring effort for St. Rose with 10 points. Junior John Crowley added nine and senior Nick Paterno and junior Dave Calloway each scored eight in the loss.

No. 2 Mater Dei Prep 98, Asbury Park 40

Senior Elijah Barnes scored 19 points and the Seraphs (13-3, 9-1) nearly reached the century mark in a rout of the Blue Bishops (2-13, 2-8). Barnes added nine rebounds, three assists, four steals and two blocks and was one of six Mater Dei players in double-figures.

Junior Adam Afifi posted 14 points and seven rebounds, while juniors Kenny Jones and Yasin Pretlow each poured in 13 points. Jones also handed out eight assists.

Junior Kyle Cardaci netted 11 points on three three-pointers and added three steals, while senior Elijah Mitchell contributed 10 points, three assists and six steals. Junior Brandon Wilson also pitched in seven points, five rebounds and five steals while junior Kyle Devaney threw in seven points and three assists for Mater Dei.

Senior Christian Bragg and sophomore Kaysaun Rice  each scored 10 points to lead Asbury Park.

 

Non-Division

Long Branch 52, Shore 32

Junior Tyree Morris scored 14 points and the Green Wave (10-4) rolled through the Blue Devils (4-9) for their ninth consecutive win. Senior Ryan Jones led Shore with 10 points.

Middletown South 54, Barnegat 40

Junior Ryan Purcell scored 15 points and junior Dave Gervase poured in 13 to lead the Eagles (4-12) to a road win over the Bengals (10-5), snapping a six-game skid. Junior Matt Laudisi also canned three three-pointers for nine points and junior Jack Anderson aided the Middletown South effort with four points, nine rebounds and three blocks.

Junior Carson Francisco led Barnegat with 11 points and junior Alex Grogan chipped in nine in the loss.
