Class A North

Howell 43, Freehold 33

Senior Will Kocsis scored 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to help spark the Rebels (4-3, 2-1) to their third straight win. Senior Gino Palummo added 10 points, five assists and four steals for Howell. Josh Dixon led Freehold (2-4, 1-2) with nine points.

Freehold Twp. 65, Middletown North 52

Junior Nick Facendo and senior Danny Saunders scored 14 points each and the Patriots (5-3, 1-2) took down the Lions (2-5, 1-2) for their third straight win. Facendo also handed out seven assists, while Saunders added five rebounds and three steals. Senior Tyree Wilson also chipped in 11 points and four steals for Freehold Township.

Senior Dylan Frawley led Middletown North with a game-high 17 points.

Middletown South 55, Marlboro 50

Senior Kevin Naughton scored a game-high 18 points and the Eagles (3-4, 1-2) topped the Mustangs (3-3, 1-2) for their first Class A North win, avenging a loss to Marlboro in a WOBM consolation game. Senior Dan Roibal added 15 points in the win, while senior Matt Ringel led Marlboro with 17 points.

No. 1 CBA 58, No. 6 Manalapan 48

Junior Pat Andree scored a game-high 19 points and the Colts (5-2, 3-0) handed the Braves (5-1, 2-1) their first loss of the season while also remaining unbeaten in Class A North. Senior Jack Laffey also poured in 17 points while junior Jack McGuire added 17 in the CBA win.

Senior Kyle Mullen led Manalapan with 14 points, while seniors Gerard Hodge-Rocourt and Zach Misischia each scored nine in the loss.

 

Class A Central

Rumson-Fair Haven 56, Shore 46

Junior Brendan Barry knocked down seven 3-pointers as part of a 25-point night and also added nine rebounds and six assists to lead the Bulldogs (4-2, 2-1) to a win over the Blue Devils (4-2, 1-1). Senior Thomas Famulary added 12 points and senior Alex Geiger chipped in 11 for Rumson. Senior Morgan Maguire posted eight points and eight rebounds in his return to the lineup after missing time with a back injury.

Senior Dan Largey scored 20 points to lead Shore, while senior Jack Byrne added 11 in defeat.

St. John Vianney 59, Holmdel 43

Junior Zach Howarth scored 21 of his game-high 22 points in the first three quarters and added seven rebounds to pace the Lancers (5-2, 1-1) to a win over the Hornets (3-2, 2-1). Junior Grant Goode added 16 points, while junior Matt DeBrizzi pitched in 11.

Junior Kevin Ziznewski led Holmdel with 11 points.

Raritan 38, Monmouth 30

 

Class A South

No. 5 Toms River North 65, No. 4 Southern 60

Senior Jordan Craig scored 24 points to go with 10 rebounds and five blocks and the Mariners (7-0, 2-0) picked up a key early-season victory over the Rams (4-2, 1-1) in Class A South to remain unbeaten.

Sophomore Mike Nyisztor poured in 16 points, while junior Pat Marinaccio added 10 points and seven rebounds for Toms River North. Sophomore Darion Carrington also chipped in seven points and six assists in the win.

Junior Peyton Wejnert led four Southern players in double-figures with 20 points. Senior Eric Ray added 13, senior Jake Logue netted 11, and junior Ethan DuBois scored 10 in the loss.

 

Class B North

Red Bank Catholic 60, Long Branch 50

Senior Kevin Fazio scored a game-high 20 points and the Caseys (6-2, 3-1) topped the Green Wave (0-5, 0-3) to keep pace in a crowded division race in Class B North. Senior Liam Byrne added 14 points, while junior Evan Madigan chipped in 13 on four 3-pointers for Red Bank Catholic.

Sophomore Fred Reeves led Long Branch with 19 points and junior Jamar Foster poured in 10 in the loss.

Colts Neck 38, No. 10 Neptune 37

Junior Lloyd Daniels buried a go-ahead 3-pointer to put Colts Neck ahead by two with 45 seconds left and the Cougars (5-1, 3-0) pulled out a win over the Scarlet Fliers (2-4, 0-3) to move into first place in Class B North.

Daniels, senior Mike Lamb and junior Tom O'Reilly combined for 11 blocks, with O'Reilly swatting five shots and Lamb and Daniels each blocking three. Lamb led a balanced Colts Neck scoring effort with eight points, while Daniels, O'Reilly and senior Kyle Gordon each added seven.

Keishawn Kirkwood led Neptune with a game-high 17 points on five 3-pointers, while Kerry Kirkwood added 12 on three threes. Kerry hit a 75-foot shot to close the third quarter and Keishawn buried a shot just inside half court before the final buzzer to end the game. Eight of Neptune's 13 field goals were 3-pointers.

No. 3 Red Bank 64, No. 7 Matawan 36

Senior Tyler Christie scored a game-high 17 points and the Bucs (6-1, 3-1) routed the Huskies (4-2, 2-1) to bounce back from their first loss of the season Saturday at Red Bank Catholic. Senior Eddie Hendrex scored 11 of his 13 points in the second quarter, during which Red Bank outscored Matawan 19-4. Anthony Mitchell also scored 10 points for Red Bank.

Senior Jason Dunne scored a team-high eight points in the first half for Matawan before being taken out on a stretcher during the second half due to dizziness and high blood pressure, according to Matawan coach Tom Stead.

Wall 46, Ocean 42

Senior Joe Tashjy scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half and the Crimson Knights (4-2, 2-1) rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to beat the Spartans (1-5, 0-3). Senior Trent Mitchell added 12 points for Wall, which has won three straight.
