Class A North

No. 6 Neptune 42, Freehold Boro 33

Juniors Jared Kimbrough and Scott Fields scored eight points each to lead a balanced scoring effort as the Scarlet Fliers (10-5, 7-3) topped the Colonials (2-14, 2-8) in a low-scoring battle. Kimbrough also pulled down 12 rebounds.

Senior Chris Cassandra led Freehold Boro with a game-high 10 points and senior Markee Gill added eight in the loss.

 

Class A South

Jackson Memorial 53, Toms River South 46

Senior Andrew Trent scored a team-high 17 points and senior Ryan Lucas added 16 as the Jaguars (8-5, 5-4) topped the Indians (4-9, 3-6).

Toms River South senior Jake Regan led all scorers with 18 points. Senior Denzel Wilson added 13 and senior Jason Porter poured in 10 in the loss.

No. 5 Toms River North 89, Toms River East 37

Senior Sean O'Donnell led five Toms River North players in double-figures with 17 points and the Mariners (16-1, 9-0) steamrolled the Raiders (3-10, 1-9) for their 11th straight win.

Senior Mike Nyisztor added 13 points, senior Darrion Carrington scored 12, and junior Holden Petrick and senior Jaden Rhoden each poured in 11 for Toms River North. Carrington also handed out seven assists in the victory.

Brick 42, Brick Memorial 35

Junior Dan Venezia scored all 15 of his points in the fourth quarter to help the Green Dragons (9-5, 5-4) rally for a win over the rival Mustangs (6-8, 4-5). Venezia also added 12 rebounds and six steals while shooting 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.

Sophomore Shane Williams chipped in 11 points and six rebounds for Brick, which outscored Brick Memorial 23-10 in the fourth quarter to overcome a 25-19 deficit heading into the final eight minutes. The Green Dragons took their first lead just before the midway point of the fourth quarter, 29-28.

Junior Vinny Vecchione led Brick Memorial with 11 points.

 

Class B Central

No. 7 Point Beach 58, Keyport 37

Junior Danny Frauenheim scored 15 points and dished out 11 assists to lead the Garnet Gulls (11-5, 7-3) to a win over the Red Raiders (3-13, 1-9). Junior Trevor Covey added 11 points and junior Jake Lorenzo contributed eight points and eight rebounds for Point Beach.

Senior Brendan O'Brien matched Frauenheim with a game-high 15 points to lead Keyport.

No. 1 Ranney 62, Keansburg 45

Sophomore Bryan Antoine scored 15 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals and the Panthers (13-2, 9-0) put away the Titans (7-6, 4-6) on Senior Night. Four-year letter-winner Joe Mahoney scored nine points to lead the four Ranney seniors, which also include Sam Metzger, Andy Chu and Rob Johnson. All four started the game along with Antoine.

Sophomores Scottie Lewis and  Ahmadu Sarnor each added 13 points for Ranney, with Sarnor adding five assists and three steals while Lewis grabbed eight rebounds to go with three assists and three steals.

Junior Danny Vital led Keansburg with a game-high 22 points and junior Paul Ackleberry added 10 in the loss.

 

Class B South

Lakewood 53, Pinelands 39

Senior Adi Palmer scored 17 points and snatched seven rebounds to lead the Piners (10-5, 7-2) to a win over the Wildcats (2-16, 1-9). Junior Kevin Dent also added 13 points for Lakewood.

Sophomore Anthony Diaz led Pinelands with 15 points.

Point Boro 56, Manchester 49

Junior Connor Strickland scored 15 points and the Panthers (10-4, 7-2) pulled out an overtime road win over the Hawks (6-9, 4-6). Senior John Venturi added 13 points, senior Jack Waddleton chipped in 10 and junior John Duda netted nine for Point Boro.

Senior L.J Robinson scored a game-high 19 points to lead Manchester.

Barnegat 51, Donovan Catholic 42 (OT)

Junior Mike Revello scored 17 points, including a contested seven-footer to tie the game at 42 with 1:10 remaining, and the Bengals (11-5, 6-3) outscored the Griffins (8-7, 7-3) 9-0 in overtime to earn the win and the regular-season sweep over Donovan Catholic.

Junior Carson Francisco also scored 17 points for Barnegat. Juniors Jethro Moll and Joe San Fillippo led Donovan Catholic with eight points apiece.

Lacey 47, Jackson Liberty 43

Sophomore Ryan O'Rourke scored 20 points and Lacey upended Jackson Liberty (3-12, 3-7) in a battle of the Lions (3-9, 3-6). Freshman Kalvin Kuhn added 14 points and senior Geoff Fairclough poured in 10 in the win.

 

Non-Division

No. 3 Freehold Twp. 58, Red Bank 49

Senior Steve Staklinski scored 20 points and the Patriots (16-0) used a 13-2 run to close out the first half and separate themselves from the Bucs (6-8) on the way to a 16th straight win to open the season.

Senior Bobby Weise poured in 14 points and senior Ryan Zyskowski added 11 for Freehold Township, which is two wins away from matching the best start in school history.

Junior Devin Cooper scored a game-high 28 points to lead Red Bank, while sophomore Liam Joyce netted 13 in defeat.
