Class A North

CBA 54, Manalapan 43

Sophomore Stephen Braunstein scored 17 points and the Colts (8-5, 4-4) stormed past the Braves (2-10, 0-8) to end a three-game skid within Class A North. Sophomore Liam Kennedy added 14 points and senior Lucas Waraksa chipped in 12 for CBA.

Junior Matan Zucker led Manalapan with a game-high 22 points.

No. 3 Freehold Twp. 46, Freehold Boro 27

Senior Ryan Zyskowski scored a game-high 13 points and senior Ryan Cardone added 12 to lead the Patriots (14-0, 8-0) past the Colonials (1-12, 1-7) for their 14th straight win. Seniors Steve Staklinski and Bobby Weise chipped in nine points apiece for Freehold Township.

Senior Chris Cassandra led Freehold Boro with eight points.

Colts Neck 62, Howell 50

Junior Danny Gaines scored a game-high 27 points and the Cougars (7-5, 5-3) topped the Rebels (3-9, 2-6) for the second time this season. Senior Brendan Clarke also chipped in 12 points for Colts Neck, while junior teammates Sabour Quddus and Ben Bosland each scored eight.

Junior Nasiem Brantley led Howell with 19 points while sophomore Matt Ganter added 10 in defeat.

 

Class A Central

St. John Vianney 50, Raritan 41

Senior Matt Donato led a balanced attack with 10 points and the Lancers (4-8, 2-5) beat the Rockets (5-8, 2-5) to sweep the season series between the Class A Central rivals.

Junior Zach Moran and sophomore A.J. McGimpsey added nine points each for St. John Vianney. Senior Mark LaVilla led Raritan with 11 points and senior Rory Sullivan chipped in 10 in the loss.

Holmdel 58, Shore 19

Junior Jeff Zhou scored a game-high 13 points and senior Nick Harris netted 12 to lead the Hornets (4-6, 4-3) past the Blue Devils (4-7, 2-5) to snap a six-game losing streak. Sophomore Kyle Koob led Shore with nine points.

Matawan 47, Red Bank 38

Junior Mike Dunne scored 12 of his team-high 17 points in the first half and the Huskies (7-6, 4-3) outscored the Bucs (6-6, 4-3) 26-13 over the second and third quarters to secure their fifth straight win. Dunne also grabbed 11 rebounds and drained five three-pointers.

Junior Zaire Jackson also scored 12 points for Matawan, while junior Devin Cooper led Red Bank with a game-high 18 points.

 

Class A South

No. 4 Toms River North 65, Toms River South 37

Senior Mike Nyisztor poured in 25 points to go with eight rebounds and the Mariners (13-1, 7-0) coasted to a win over the rival Indians (4-7, 3-4) to remain unbeaten in Class A South play. Senior Jaden Rhoden chipped in 11 points and six assists while junior Holden Petrick added 10 points.

 

Class B North

Middletown North 79, Red Bank Catholic 69

Sophomore Rob Higgins scored 27 points while grabbing six boards and handing out six assists as the Lions (7-6, 5-3) topped the Caseys (7-5, 5-3) to avenge an opening-night loss at RBC. Higgins scored 11 of his points in the fourth quarter to help put the game out of reach.

Junior Sky Cherry added 16 points and eight rebounds while knocking down four of Middletown North's 12 three-pointers. The Lions shot 12-for-21 from behind the arc as a team.

Junior Dave Campbell added 11 points while senior Marc Cerbo poured in 10 for Middletown North.

Seniors Terence Calandrillo and Mike Conley each scored 19 points to lead RBC. Freshman Charlie Gordinier and junior Matt Ansell each added nine in the loss.

Long Branch 48, Middletown South 42

Junior Tyree Morris scored 18 points and the Green Wave (8-4, 6-2) turned back the Eagles (3-10, 2-6) to avenge an opening-night loss at Middletown South. Senior Cascius Briggs added 12 points for Long Branch.

Junior Dave Gervase led Middletown South with a game-high 21 points while junior Ryan Purcell chipped in 11 in a losing effort.

Wall 60, Monmouth 49

Junior Steve Geis scored a game-high 25 points, including a 15-for-16 effort from the free-throw line, as the Crimson Knights (5-7, 3-5) grounded the Falcons (2-10, 0-8). Senior Gene Scott added 13 points for Wall while senior Mike Andrejco chipped in nine. Freshman Quinn Calabrese also scored eight points in the win.

Senior Tyler Hawkins led Monmouth with 16 points.

Manasquan 56, Ocean 52

Senior Devin Jensen scored a game-high 27 points while pulling in six rebounds to help the Warriors (10-3, 7-1) hold off the Spartans (9-4, 4-4). He also checked Ocean leading scorer Andrew Seager, who scored 15 points, for the majority of the game.

Sophomore Brad McCabe added 14 points and nine rebounds for Manasquan. Sophomore Santieno Harding scored 11 points for Ocean, while freshman teammate Jack Miller poured in 10.

 

Non-Division

Brick Memorial 54, Jackson Liberty 43

Senior Dom Scardilli and juniors Anthony Argondizza and Vinny Hernandez all scored 13 points apiece and the Mustangs (5-7) rode the trio to a win over the Lions (2-10). Sophomore Daniel Sofield led Jackson Liberty with a game-high 17 points.

 

Non-Conference

Millville 78, Pinelands 58

Sophomore Anthony Diaz scored a team-high 14 points, but the Wildcats (1-14) could not keep up with the Thunderbolts (9-2).
