At Pine Belt Arena

(5) Red Bank Catholic 68, (12) St. Rose 55

Senior Evan Madigan scored 20 points and the Caseys (2-0) led wire-to-wire in a win over the Purple Roses (0-2). Senior John Poccia poured in 13 points and senior Eddie Hahn dropped 12 for RBC, which outscored St. Rose 18-8 in the first quarter and never looked back.

Sophomore Jared Schieninger led St. Rose with 12 points while Brendan Hueth added nine.

(4) Donovan Catholic 82, (13) Brick Memorial 50

Senior Riley Collins scored a game-high 29 points and the Griffins (2-0) rolled to a win over the Mustangs (0-2) to advance to next Saturday's WOBM quarterfinals against fifth-seeded Red Bank Catholic. Donovan Catholic blew open the game with a 19-1 run that carried into the early part of the second quarter and put the Griffins up 23-5.

Senior Tyler McShea added 16 points and senior Mike Boice poured in 12 for Donovan Catholic. Senior Darius Richards led Brick Memorial with a career-high 26 points.

(8) Toms River East 71, (9) Point Boro 57

Junior Phil Lingat scored a game-high 26 points - including 12 in the first quarter - as the Raiders (2-0) rolled to their second straight win to open the year by beating the Panthers (1-1) and advancing to the WOBM quarterfinals.

Senior Ryan West also added 14 points and sophomore Zyaire Dorn chipped in 13 points in the win.

Sophomore John Duda led Point Boro with 19 points and junior teammate John Venturi added 18.

(1) Manasquan 62, (16) Lacey 44

Senior Ryan Jensen scored a game-high 22 points and the Warriors (2-0) pulled away behind a 15-0 run in the first half for a win over the Lions (0-2). Manasquan will play No. 8 Toms River East in the WOBM quarterfinals next Saturday.

Senior Jack Sheehan scored 12 points to aid the Manasquan effort, as the Warriors turned 14-12 lead late in the first quarter into a 29-12 lead in the second.

Vinny DellaVolla and Geoff Fairclough each scored 15 points to lead the Lions.

At Toms River North Gym

(6) Freehold Twp. 70, (11) Wall 58

Senior Nick Facendo scored a career-high 31 points and the Patriots (1-1) beat the Crimson Knights (0-2) to advance to the WOBM quarterfinals next Saturday. Junior Bobby Weise added 10 points and junior Steve Staklinski chipped in nine.

Junior Mike Andrejco led Wall with 23 points while classmate Gene Scott chipped in 12 in the loss.

(3) Manchester 56, (14) Jackson Memorial 39

Senior Shavar Reynolds scored a game-high 20 points and the Hawks (2-0) coasted to a first-round win over the Jaguars (0-2) to set-up a quarterfinal meeting with sixth-seeded Freehold Township next Saturday.

Senior Jordan Torney scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half, while junior L.J. Robinson scored nine of his 13 in the first half.

Juniors Calvin Blue and Ryan Lucas each scored eight points to lead Jackson Memorial.

(7) Marlboro 59, (10) Toms River South 44

Junior P.J. Ringel scored 20 points and junior Ryan LaRocca added 13 as the Mustangs (2-0) beat the Indians (0-2) to advance to the WOBM quarterfinals. LaRocca scored 11 of his 13 in the first half, including three three-pointers.

Junior Justin Fall scored all 13 of his points in the second half to lead Toms River South in the Indians' season-opener.

(2) Toms River North 78, (15) Middletown South 43

Junior Jaden Rhoden scored a game-high 17 points and the Mariners (2-0) steamrolled the Eagles (0-2) to advance to the WOBM quarterfinals next Saturday against No. 7 Marlboro.

Senior Hunter Petrick added 15 points and senior Patrick Marinaccio threw in 13 as 12 different Toms River North players scored at least two points.

Senior John Zega scored nine points to lead Middltown South.

Senior Matt Morton scored a team-high 14 points and handed out six assists as the Rebels (2-0) beat the Lions (0-2) to advance to the Score at the Shore quarterfinals against Bergen Catholic next Saturday.

Senior Connor MacLeod added 13 points and senior Steve Palumbo added 12 for Howell.

Class B Central

Ranney 61, Keansburg 36

Freshman Bryan Antoine score 17 points to go with five assists and classmate Scottie Lewis added 15 points and seven rebounds as the Panthers (2-0, 2-0) coasted past the Titans (0-2, 0-2).

Sophomore Vaughan Fitzgerald led Keansburg with 10 points.

 

Non-Conference

St. John Vianney 61, Bayonne 59 (OT)

Senior Zach Howarth scored seven of his game-high 23 points in overtime, including the game-winning free throws with five seconds left to help the Lancers win their opener against the Bees.

Senior Grant Goode added 14 points and senior Kevin Callari pitched in 11 points for St. John Vianney.

 

Hoop Group Tip-Off Classic

At Caldwell College

Don Bosco 52, No. 1 CBA 46

Senior Pat Andree scored a game-high 19 points, but the Ironmen (2-0) outlasted the Colts (1-1) in a meeting between two of the top-ranked teams in the NJSIAA Non-Public A section. Senior Jack McGuire poured in 13 points in the loss.

 

Ocean City PBA Tip-Off Showcase

At Ocean City

Wildwood Catholic 79, Southern 76

Senior Peyton Wejnert posted a game-high 26 points and 15 rebounds, but Wildwood Catholic (2-0) outscored Southern 23-14 in the fourth quarter to pull out a win in the season-opener for the Rams (0-1).

Senior Mark Valeriani also poured in 21 points and senior Ethan Dubois chipped in 18 points and five assists for Southern.
