Tyrell Montgomery scored a team-high 13 points, but the Scarlet Fliers (2-3) could not keep up with Hackensack in a loss to the Comets (1-3).

Pope John 38, No. 2 Mater Dei Prep 35

Senior Kyle Elliot scored a team-high 11 points and the Seraphs took a six-point lead into the second half, but last year's Tournament of Championship runner up (2-5) rallied to beat the Seraphs (3-1) in a hard-fought game at the New Year's Jump-off showcase.

Middletown South 45, Shore 33

Senior Luke Benigno scored a game-high 15 points and the Eagles (1-5) topped the Blue Devils (1-6) to give coach Nick Georgiou his first career win.

Rumson-Fair Haven 64, No. 10 Freehold Twp. 48

Senior Brendan Barry scored 20 of his game-high 27 points in the second half and also handed out six assists as the Bulldogs (2-3) led wire-to-wire in beating the Patriots (4-3). Barry shot 9-for-16 from the floor and 6-for-9 from behind the three-point arc.

Senior Mickey Schluter scored 10 of his 11 points in the first quarter and senior Colin McDevitt also chipped in 10 points. Sophomore Elijah McAllister added four points, seven rebounds and six blocks in the win.

Junior Steve Staklinski led Freehold Township with 11 points and senior John Carroll added 10 in the loss.

Ocean 58, Howell 48

Senior Scott Bradley scored 14 points to go with 14 rebounds and four blocks and the Spartans (3-3) won their third straight by beating the Rebels (4-3).

Junior Darius Brown also scored 14 points for Ocean and senior teammate Manny Padron poured in 10. Sophomore Brandon Wilson led Howell with 12 points.

St. John Vianney 61, St. Rose 35

Senior Grant Goode scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and senior Marcque Ellington added 17 points and 11 boards to help the Lancers (4-2) roll to a win over the Purple Roses (2-4).

No. 1 CBA 93, Moses Brown (R.I.) 52

Senior Pat Andree erupted for a career-high 43 points and buried seven three-pointers to lead the Colts (5-1) to a win over Moses Brown, their fourth straight victory. Senior Jack McGuire poured in 25 points and shot 14-for-15 from the free-throw line.

At Roselle Catholic

Westfield 48, No. 4 Lakewood 47

Senior Sean Barksdale scored 18 points, but Westfield's Nick Mele scored off a steal with nine seconds left to give the Blue Devils (6-0) a win over the Piners (3-2) to remain unbeaten. Amir Tyler added 11 points and Ryzson Barnes chipped in 10 for Lakewood.

Roselle Catholic 75, Raritan 48

Asbury Park native Nazreon Reid scored 19 points to help the Lions (4-2) hand the Rockets (4-1) their first loss. Eddie Tynion also scored 19 points with four three-pointers to lead Raritan.
