Each week, Shore Sports Network will nominate a group of players as the Shore Sports Network Player of the Week, sponsored by Orthopaedic Institute of Central Jersey, and the SSN readers will have a chance to pick the winner. Below are the five players from Shore Conference teams who were recognized as holiday tournament MVP's last week, so they are the five nominees for this installment of the Player of the Week award.

Steve Staklinski, Freehold Township

The MVP of the WOBM Christmas Classic scored 23 of Freehold Township’s 45 points in the tournament championship game against Toms River North to lead the Patriots to their first WOBM title. The senior forward averaged 14.7 points per game during Freehold Township’s four-game run.

Elijah Barnes, Mater Dei Prep

The Buc Classic was a trip down Memory Lane for Barnes, or perhaps more so for the teams he played. Mater Dei beat Freehold Boro and Central to reach the championship game, which were the first two teams Barnes played for in high school. After scoring 16 against Freehold and 12 against Central, Barnes capped his run with 18 points in a championship win over Sayreville to wrap up MVP honors.

Andrew Seager, Ocean

Seager turned in an MVP performance at the Husky Holiday Classic to help lead Ocean to a pair of close wins and, ultimately, the tournament title. Seager averaged 18 points in the three game, beginning with 14 points, nine rebounds and six assists in a win over Tottenville before following with a career-high 23 points to go with eight boards. Seager capped the tournament with 17 points in the final against Old Bridge.

Danny Frauenheim, Point Beach

The Garnet Gulls have been on their game since an opening night loss to Ranney and they continued their winning ways at the Monsignor Kelly Classic at Immaculata. Frauenheim helped seal the championship by posting 14 points and 12 assists in the championship game against St. Peter’s of Staten Island.

Paul Eckleberry, Keansburg

Henry Hudson hosted a holiday tournament for the second straight year and Keansburg took home the title behind wins over South River and South Amboy. Eckleberry scored 18 points in an overtime win over South River, then put up 17 points and 11 rebounds in the final vs. South Amboy to earn MVP honors.
