STAFFORD TWP. - After trailing heading into the fourth quarter, the Toms River North boys basketball team - ranked No. 5 in the Shore Sports Network Top 10 - rallied to beat Southern Regional, 74-67, to pick up a key Shore Conference Class A South victory while pursuing a second straight division championship and third in four years.

Juniors Mike Nyisztor and Jaden Rhoden scored 24 points each to lead the Mariners, who outscored Southern 30-20 in the fourth quarter. Nyisztor scored 12 of his points in the final eight minutes.

Senior Peyton Wejnert led Southern with 29 points and eight rebounds, including 13 points during the third quarter to send the Rams to the final eight minutes with a 47-44 lead. Toms River North (5-1, 2-0), however, shifted the momentum by forcing 10 Southern turnovers in the fourth quarter alone.

Senior Mark Valeriani added 14 points, eight assists and three steals for Southern (2-4, 0-2), while senior teammate Ethan Dubois pitched in 11 points and eight assists in the loss.
