Central Jersey Group III

(1) Ewing 73, (6) Red Bank 62 

Junior Trey Lowe scored a game-high 37 points and the Blue Devils ended the Bucs' run in the Central Jersey Group III final. Sophomore Sadiq Palmer led Red Bank with 21 points and the Bucs led Ewing, 15-12 after the first quarter.

 

Central Jersey Group I

(1) Point Beach 67, (2) Shore 61

Seniors Matt Farrell and Noah Yates scored 20 points each, combining for 31 in the second half to help the Garnet Gulls rally from a four-point halftime deficit to beat the Blue Devils and win their second straight Central Jersey Group I championship.

Farrell scored 10 points during the fourth quarter, when Point Beach outscored Shore 25-14 to turn a four-point halftime deficit into a 50-43 lead. Yates then helped the Gulls close out the win with 11 points in the fourth quarter, including 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. Yates scored 17 of his 20 in the second half to go with six rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocks.

Point Beach senior Dom Uhl was limited because of illness, but senior Jeff Bryant and junior Matt Frauenheim combined for 20 points to pick up the slack. Uhl finished with five points, seven rebounds and four blocks.

Point Beach will play South Jersey Group I champion Pitman Wednesday at Pine Belt Arena in Toms River in the Group I semifinals.

Junior Kevin Bloodgood led Shore with a game-high 26 points, including 15 in the first half. Junior Jack Byrne also added 12 points in the loss.
