Manalapan 79, Howell 70

Junior John Lugo led five Manalapan players in double-figure scoring with 24 points and the Braves (8-10, 5-7) topped the Rebels (8-12, 5-8) to keep their SCT hopes alive while also eliminating Howell from the running for a spot in the tournament.

Senior Anthony Schimbeno added 14 points, sophomore Matan Zucker scored 13, senior Scott Schere poured in 12 and sophomore Justin Lynch netted 10 for Manalapan.

Sophomore Nasiem Brantley scored 19 points to lead Howell, which also had five players reach double-figures. Junior Dan Cacciatore added 12 points and senior Connor Macleod chipped in 10 points in the loss. Sophomore Brandon Wilson and junior Jordan Jones also contributed 10 points each for Howell.

No. 8 Freehold Twp. 60, Freehold Boro 42

No. 1 CBA 57, Middletown South 42

Middletown North 75, Marlboro 68

Junior Marc Cerbo scored 23 points and freshman Rob Higgins added 22 points, eight rebounds and six assists to lead the Lions (11-7, 8-4) to a win over the Mustangs (11-7, 7-5), officially clinching Middletown North a spot in the SCT.

Sophomore Dave Campbell also chipped in nine points and eight assists while senior Colin Frawley pitched in nine points and 12 rebounds in the win.

Junior P.J. Ringel led Marlboro with a game-high 30 points.

 

Class A Central

Southern 59, Toms River South 48

Senior Peyton Wejnert scored a game-high 27 points to go with 12 rebounds and the Rams (11-7, 8-4) topped the Indians (6-11, 4-8). Junior Mark Valeriani and sophomore Jake Dubois each added 11 points for Southern, while senior Ethan Dubois chipped in six points and 11 assists.

Senior R.J. Laing led Toms River South with 22 points.

 

Class B North

No. 6 Colts Neck 49, Red Bank 47

Junior Brendan Clarke drove for the go-ahead basket with a little more than a minute left, breaking a 47-47 tie and lifting the Cougars (15-3, 11-2) to a win over the Bucs (10-9, 7-7) for their eighth straight win.

With the win, Colts Neck clinches no worse than a share of the Class B North title and can clinch the outright title with a win over Wall on Thursday or with an Ocean win over Long Branch on Tuesday.

Senior Lloyd Daniels led Colts Neck with 18 points and senior Tom O'Reilly poured in 10 in the win. Senior Ben Sprauer led Red Bank with 14 points and senior Matt Reardon chipped in 13 in defeat.

Class B Central

Keyport 62, Keansburg 38

Junior Brendan O'Brien scored 16 points and senior Travis Alvarez added 15 to help lead the Red Raiders (5-11, 4-9) to a win over the Titans (1-16, 1-12). Junior Chris Hogrefe added nine points for Keyport.

Junior Quentin Godfrey led Keansburg with 10 points.

 

Non-Division

Brick 58, Barnegat 42

Juniors Noah Buono and Brandon Williams each put up a double-double and the Green Dragons (11-7) beat the Bengals (5-15) to clinch their first SCT berth since 2007.

Buono finished with 15 points and 15 rebounds, while Williams added 10 points and 10 assists. Senior Kenny Buell also chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds for Brick.

Senior DaShawn Anderson led Barnegat with 19 points.

No. 2 Mater Dei Prep 78, Monmouth 26

Junior Elijah Mitchell scored a game-high 19 points and the Seraphs (17-1) coasted to a win over the Falcons (2-16). Senior Kyle Elliot added 13 points and five steals while senior NyQuan McCombs pitched in 11 points and five assists.

Junior Elijah Barnes and sophomore Kenny Jones also chipped in nine point apiece, with Barnes grabbing five rebounds and Jones contributing three assists and four steals.

 

Non-Conference

Henry Hudson 50, Calvary Christian 41

Senior Tom DeFillippo scored 26 points and dished four assists as the Admirals (9-8) moved within one win of clinching their first SCT berth since 2006.
