Class A North

No. 4 CBA 81, Freehold Boro 28

Junior Josh Cohen scored a game-high 22 points and the Colts (14-4, 12-0) hammered the Colonials (2-17, 0-12), giving them a chance to clinch the Class A North championship with a win at Neptune on Tuesday.

Senior Nolan Madden and junior Paul Waraksa each added 12 points, with Madden sinking four three-pointers.

 

Class A South

No. 8 Toms River North 75, Central 36

Senior Holden Petrick scored 15 points and sophomore Najae Hallenback added 14 to lead the Mariners (18-3, 13-0) to a win over the Golden Eagles (7-14, 4-9), their 45th straight against Class A South competition.

Toms River South 47, Brick Memorial 45

Sophomore Jalen Folsom scored 13 points and the Indians (3-15, 2-11) edged the Mustangs (10-10, 8-5).

Senior Dillon Hope added 12 points and senior Mason Agostino chipped in 10 for Toms River South, which one its second home game of the season over a team currently in the SCT picture. The Indians also beat Toms River East by two, 64-62, on Jan. 22.

Senior Anthony Argondizza scored 13 points to lead Brick Memorial, which will have another chance to clinch a Shore Conference Tournament berth Thursday at home against Jackson Memorial.

Class B North

No. 7 Manasquan 54, Middletown South 38

Junior Brad McCabe scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help spark the Warriors (15-3, 11-1) to a second win over the Eagles (10-9, 7-5) in a week, which clinches the outright Class A Central championship for Manasquan.

The Warriors have now won at least a share of a division championship in each of the last six seasons, which outright championships in four of the last six.

Senior Ryan Flanagan added 10 points and led a defensive effort that held Middletown South leading scorer Ryan Purcell to one field goal. Sophomore Alex Galvan and junior  Xander Korolik also pitched in eight points and nine rebounds apiece.

Senior Cam Lenhard led Middletown South with 10 points.

 

Class B Central

Point Beach 82, Henry Hudson 36

Senior Trevor Covey scored 23 points and the Garnet Gulls (14-6, 10-3) coasted to a win over the Admirals (2-16, 1-11). Senior Mohamed Traore pitched in 14 points while senior Chris Pina added 10 points and eight rebounds and senior Danny Frauenheim contributed nine points and 11 assists for Point Beach.

Asbury Park 57, Keansburg 53

Senior Ja'King Agostini scored 20 points and the Blue Bishops (9-10, 6-7) outlasted the Titans (5-14, 4-10) to move within one win of securing a spot in the Shore Conference Tournament for the first time since 2011-12.

Sophomore Eryck Brown added 11 points and junior Alexx Harbour poured in 10 for Asbury Park, which can nail down a spot in the SCT with a win over Keyport on Friday.

No. 1 Ranney 65, No. 2 Mater Dei Prep 61

Junior Bryan Antoine scored a game-high 28 points, including the tying dunk with 1:30 left and the go-ahead shot with 44 seconds left to left the Panthers (17-4, 12-0) to a win over the Seraphs (16-3, 10-2), clinching no worse than a share of the Class B Central division for the second straight year.

Antoine scored 11 points in the fourth quarter and tied the game with a drive to the basket for a two-handed slam. After Ranney got a stop on the other end, Antoine navigated the right baseline and flipped up a midrange floater that bounced around the rim and dropped through to make the score 63-61.

Mater Dei failed to convert on the ensuing possession, but senior Kyle Cardaci stole an inbounds pass to give the Seraphs one last shot. Ranney senior Savior Akuwovo, however, blocked a driving attempt by junior Alexander Rice in the final seconds and junior Ahmadu Sarnor scored on a layup as time expired to finish off the scoring.

Junior Scottie Lewis added 14 points for Ranney, while Akuwovo and Sarnor added 10 each.

Cardaci scored 11 of his team-high 18 points in the fourth quarter, including three of his four three-pointers. Senior Adam Afifi added 13 points and seven rebounds for Mater Dei.

 

Class B South

Lakewood 52, Donovan Catholic 32

Seniors Kevin Dent, Drayton Bonaparte and Jyheir Jones combined for 40 of Lakewood's 52 points on Senior Night and the Piners (13-8, 10-3) rolled to a win over the Griffins (8-10, 6-7), keeping their hopes of a 10th straight division championship alive.

Dent finished with a game-high 15 points, Bonaparte poured in 13 and Jones netted 12 for Lakewood, which can pull into a first place tie in B South with a win over a Point Boro loss to either Donovan Catholic or Pinelands.

Manchester 36, Jackson Liberty 31

Senior Mike Richardson scored a game-high 10 points and the Hawks (2-15, 2-10) battled past the Lions (7-13, 3-10) for their second win of the season - both over Jackson Liberty.

Barnegat 56, Point Boro 46

Senior Alex Grogan scored 23 points and the Bengals (14-5, 8-4) beat the first-place Panthers (13-4, 10-2) to win their sixth game in a row and 13th in the last 15 games after opening the season 1-3.

Senior Carson Francisco pitched in 16 points for Barnegat, which earned some breathing room in the third quarter by outscoring Point Boro, 11-4, in the first eight minutes of the second half after taking a 22-21 lead to the break.

Senior Connor Costigan led Point Boro with 17 points and senior John Duda added 14 in the loss.

Pinelands at Lacey - Moved to Tuesday, 6:30 p.m.
