Former assistant Kevin McQuade has ascended to the head boys basketball job at Jackson Memorial after being approved by the Jackson Board of Education on Tuesday night.

McQuade, who is also an assistant on the boys soccer staff, takes over for Joe Fagan, who brought the program to new heights. Fagan fashioned a 114-50 record in six seasons and led the Jaguars to three 20-win seasons, two Class A South titles and an appearance in the Central Jersey Group IV final in 2012. He left in June to accept the Neptune head coaching job.

McQuade coached the team earlier this month at the Primetime Shootout at West Windsor South, so he is familiar with the personnel. The Jaguars, who are the defending Class A South champions, graduated Delaware recruit Eric Carter at center and appear to have lost a key returning piece as 6-foot-7 senior forward Jesse Hill has transferred to Point Beach, according to NJ Hoops' Jay Gomes. Point Beach is Hill's third school in three years, as he transferred to Jackson from Monsignor Donovan. Jackson Memorial does return a pair of promising sophomore twins, 6-foot-9 Ryan Osler and 6-foot-7 Parker Osler.

McQuade joins Fagan, Monmouth Regional's John Rivera, Barnegat's Mike Puorro, Shore Regional's Frank Carmody and Wall's Matt Kukoda as new coaches in Shore Conference basketball for the 2014-15 season.
