Class A North

No. 1 CBA 56, Marlboro 48

Senior Jack Laffey scored a game-high 31 points and the Colts (6-2, 4-0) held on to edge the Mustangs (3-4, 1-3) on the road and remain unbeaten in Class A North. George Elghoul led Marlboro with 23 points, including 13 in the second half, as Marlboro trailed the Shore's top team by just two heading into the final minute before CBA iced the game on the foul line.

Freehold Twp. 64, Howell 50

Tyree Wilson and Nick Facendo each scored 14 points and the Patriots (6-3, 2-2) blew open a tie game in the second quarter to pull away with a win over the Rebels (4-4, 2-2). Wilson also added 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals, while Danny Saunders chipped in 12 points for Freehold Township - which closed the second quarter on a 19-2 run to take a 36-19 halftime lead.

Gino Palummo led Howell with 18 points, including a 10-for-10 showing at the free-throw line. Will Kocsis also netted 13 points in the loss.

Middletown South 53, Freehold Boro 47

Junior Alex Mrusek led a balanced scoring effort with 13 points and the Eagles (4-4, 2-2) won for the fourth time in five games after an 0-3 start by beating the Colonials (3-5, 1-3). Senior Dan Roibal also chipped in 11 points in the win, while Freehold senior Josh Dixon poured in a game-high 17 points. Daniel Gewirtz also scored 15 points in the loss.

Middletown North 41, No. 6 Manalapan 37

Sophomore Jules Calhoun scored 16 points to go with six rebounds and the Lions (3-5, 2-2) handed the Braves (5-2, 2-2) their second straight loss while also snapping a four-game skid of their own. Freshman Dave Campbell chipped in nine points and five assists in the win, while senior Vinny Youncofski hit two critical fourth-quarter threes to finish with seven points.

Junior Scott Scherer and senior Zach Misischia each scored eight to lead Manalapan.

 

Class A Central

No. 8 Manasquan 51, St. John Vianney 42

Junior Ryan Jensen scored 16 points and pulled in 20 rebounds and the Warriors (7-1, 3-0) topped the Lancers (5-3, 1-2) to remain unbeaten in Class A Central. Senior Luke O'Shaughnessy and junior Jack Sheehan each added 11 points for Manasquan, with O'Shaughnessy grabbing nine boards and Sheehan chipping in five rebounds and four steals.

Senior John-Michael Broderick and junior Grant Goode each scored 14 points to lead St. John Vianney.

Shore 64, Monmouth 36

Senior Dan Largey scored 24 points and Jack Byrne and Kevin Bloodgood each added 10 as the Blue Devils (5-2, 2-1) cruised to a win over the Falcons (0-8, 0-4).

Rumson-Fair Haven 61, Holmdel 36

Junior Brendan Barry scored 18 points and handed out six assists as the Bulldogs (5-2, 3-1) coasted to a win over the Hornets (3-3, 2-2). Senior Alex Geiger added 13 points in the win, while senior Luke Mayell led Holmdel with 10 points.

 

Class A South

Lacey 54, Jackson Memorial 50

Senior Chris Iapicco erupted for 36 points and 12 rebounds and five blocks to lead the Lions (2-4, 1-2) to a win over the Jaguars (3-4, 2-2), their first Class A South divisional win of the season.

 

Class B North

Wall 50, Long Branch 38

Senior Joe Tashjy led a balanced scoring effort with 12 points to help guide the Crimson Knights (5-2, 3-1) to their fourth straight win by beating the Green Wave (0-6, 0-4). Seniors Ryan Janeczek and Trent Mitchell each contributed 11 points for Wall.

No. 3 Red Bank 69, Ocean 49

Junior Sadiq Palmer scored 23 points to go with 10 rebounds and senior Anthony Mitchell pumped in 17 to pace the Bucs (7-1, 4-1) to a win over the Spartans (1-6, 0-4) as Red Bank kept pace with Red Bank Catholic and Colts Neck in the early-season B North standings.

Red Bank outscored Ocean 24-10 in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Senior Taj Shomo led the Spartans with 15 points.

 

Class B South

Manchester 68, Pinelands 43

Sophomore L.J. Robinson scored a career-high 21 points and junior Shavar Reynolds added 15 points, 10 rebounds and six assists to help lead the Hawks (4-2, 3-0) to a win over the Wildcats (4-3, 2-2). Junior Nakim Stokes also added 15 points, four assists and four steals, while senior Robert Planter chipped in nine points and 10 rebounds.

Senior Milanj Coursey led Pinelands with 15 points.

 

Non-Division

Barnegat 55, Mater Dei Prep 33

Senior Kyle Morris scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Bengals (3-5) rolled through the Seraphs (3-6) for their second win in as many nights after knocking off Donovan Catholic on Thursday.

Morris scored 12 of his 18 points in the first half, while senior Xavier Young scored 12 points and junior DaShawn Anderson inhaled 21 rebounds for Barnegat. Senior Tysaun White led Mater Dei with 18 points.

 

Non-Conference

Raritan 63, Bard 27

Junior Joe Strand scored a game-high 16 points and the Rockets (4-4) coasted to a win over Bard of Newark. Jepi Tonuzi also added 10 points for Raritan.
