Class A North

No. 8 Marlboro 66, Howell 60

Senior P.J. Ringel scored a game-high 25 points and senior Dan Weiss poured in 21 to help the Mustangs (11-4, 8-2) hold off the Rebels (4-11, 2-8). Junior Nasiem Brantley led Howell with 22 points and junior Dante Lanzetta added 17 in the loss.

CBA 63, No. 3 Freehold Twp. 58

Sophomores Liam Kennedy and Stephen Braunstein scored 16 points each and the Colts (11-5, 6-4) took down the previously undefeated Patriots (16-1, 9-1), snapping their season-opening winning streak at 16.

Kennedy drilled four three-pointers and Braunstein knocked down three to account for seven of CBA's nine three-pointers as a team. Sophomore Josh Cohen added 12 points to give the Colts three sophomores in double-figures against the Shore's last remaining undefeated team. Senior Matt Lautato also chipped in eight points and junior Nolan Madden accounted for the other two three-pointers to finish with six points.

CBA went on a 13-0 run in the first quarter to seize control of the game and never trailed again. Freehold Township cut a 51-40 deficit to 57-52 with 1:24 left, with senior Bobby Weise burying his fourth three-pointer to cut the Colts lead to five. Weise also hit three free throws after drawing a foul behind the arc to cut CBA's lead to 59-55 and finished with a team-high 15 points.

Senior Ryan Zyskowski added 13 points for Freehold Township while senior Steve Staklinski finished with 11 before fouling out in the fourth.

Freehold Township's 16-game winning streak to open the season is the second-longest in program history behind only the 2006-07 team, which began its Shore Conference Tournament championship campaign 18-0 before losing to LEAP Academy.

Colts Neck 66, Manalapan 39

Senior Brendan Clarke scored a game-high 23 points and added seven rebounds and three assists to lead the Cougars (9-6, 6-4) past the Braves (2-13, 0-10). Senior Rob Hill also chipped in 13 points and nine boards for Colts Neck and junior Ben Bosland contributed seven points, seven rebounds and six assists in the win.

Junior Matan Zucker led Manalapan with 18 points.

 

Class A Central

Holmdel 66, St. John Vianney 49

Junior Tim Zhou led four Holmdel players in double-figure scoring with 19 points and the Hornets (7-6, 6-3) earned their fourth straight win by beating the Lancers (5-10, 3-6). Senior Nick Harris chipped in 14 points, senior Mike Simuro added 13 and junior Eric Celenti poured in 10 for Holmdel.

Matawan 48, Shore 43

Junior Chris Tawiah scored 13 points to lead a balanced scoring effort and the Huskies (8-7, 5-4) edged the Blue Devils (4-10, 2-6). Sophomore Chris Panduri led Shore with 17 points.

No. 4 Rumson-Fair Haven 56, Raritan 43

Sophomore Ian O'Connor scored a game-high 23 points and the Bulldogs (13-1, 8-0) overcame a slow start to beat the Rockets (5-10, 2-7). Raritan began the game on an 11-0 run.

Junior center Elijah McAllister played in his first game of the season for Rumson and finished with six points and seven rebounds. McAllister, who is regarded as a Division I football prospect, underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL in April and missed the entire football season.

Senior Zach Mojica led Raritan with 12 points and sophomore Tim Hayes chipped in nine in the loss.

 

Class B North

No. 10 Manasquan 65, Long Branch 45

Senior Devin Jensen scored a game-high 33 points and grabbed six boards to lead the Warriors (11-4, 8-2) to a win over the Green Wave (10-5, 7-3), snapping Long Branch's nine-game winning streak.

Manasquan blew open a 35-35 game with an 8-0 run to end the third quarter and a 30-10 run to close the game. Senior Seamus Hogan added eight points and six rebounds and senior Tyler Hobbie pitched in five points and eight assists.

Senior Cascius Briggs led Long Branch with 14 points and sophomore Marc Dennis added 12 in the loss. Junior Tyree Morris also scored 10 of his 11 points in the first half for Long Branch, which trailed 28-24 at halftime.

Ocean 63, Middletown North 58

Junior Andrew Seager scored 17 of his game-high 28 points in the fourth quarter and the Spartans (11-5, 5-5) pulled out a big home win over the Lions (9-7, 6-4). Freshman Jack Miller also added 16 points for Ocean.

Sophomore Rob Higgins led Middletown North with 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Senior Marc Cerbo pitched in 12 points and junior Dave Campbell had 10 in the loss.

Middletown South 60 Monmouth 50

Red Bank Catholic 54, Wall 44

Senior Terence Calandrillo and freshman Charlie Gordinier each scored 14 points and the Caseys (10-5, 7-3) broke open a tight game in the fourth quarter to beat the Crimson Knights (7-8, 4-6). Gordinier scored 12 points in the fourth, during which RBC outscored Wall 21-10.

Sophomore Steve Geis led Wall with 14 points, while senior Gene Scott and freshman Quinn Calabrese added 11 points apiece.

 

Class B Central

St. Rose 69, Keansburg 36

Junior Dave Calloway scored 15 points and senior Billy Frost added 14 to lead a balanced St. Rose scoring effort that carried the Purple Roses (10-6, 7-4) past the Titans (7-7, 4-7). Junior Sean Culley also scored 10 points while senior Nick Paterno poured in nine.

Junior Danny Vital led Keansburg with a game-high 20 points and senior Nick Rizzi added 10 in the loss.

 

Non-Division

No. 9 Central 55, Lacey 29

Senior Maks Gruszecki scored a game-high 20 points and the Golden Eagles (14-2) coasted past the Lions (3-10) for their seventh straight win. Senior Zion Hardy added 13 points and seven assists for Central.

Jackson Liberty 64, Freehold Boro 50

Sophomore Daniel Sofield put up 23 points, eight rebounds and three blocks to lead the Lions (4-12) to a win over the Colonials (2-15). Senior Nico Montano also helped out with 15 points, five assists and two seals for Jackson Liberty.

Sophomore Quincy Davis led Freehold with 10 points and five rebounds while junior Ashante Worthy chipped in seven points and six assists.
