Class A North

Howell 69, Middletown South 56

Senior Aaron Trimble scored 19 points and and the Rebels (8-6, 4-4) pulled away to beat the Eagles (4-9, 2-6). Senior Will Kocsis added 17 points and eight rebounds, while senior Greg McManus poured in 11 points to go with eight rebounds.

Senior Dan Roibal led Middletown South with a game-high 26 points.

Marlboro 57, Manalapan 40

Senior George Elghoul scored 16 points to go with three assists and five steals and the Mustangs (6-6, 4-4) beat the Braves (8-4, 4-4) to climb back to the .500 mark. Senior Matt Ringel chipped in 13 points and nine rebounds for Marlboro, while sophomore P.J. Ringel added eight points, six rebounds and five steals in the win.

Senior Zach Misischia led Manalapan with 10 points.

No. 4 Freehold Twp. 71, No. 1 CBA 68

Senior Tyree Wilson scored a team-high 22 points - including a go-ahead three with 1:20 left that gave Freehold Township the lead for good - and the Patriots (10-4, 5-3) held off a second-half comeback by CBA and handed the Colts (9-4, 7-1) their first Shore Conference loss of the season.

The loss was also the first Class A North divisional loss suffered by CBA since Freehold Township won a regular-season meeting during the 2012-13 season. The Colts won 20 straight divisional games between the two Freehold Township losses.

Wilson also pulled in eight rebounds and senior Dan Saunders added 12 points and six rebounds for Freehold Township, which had nine players score at least two points. Senior Kyle Czajkowski added 10 points, four rebounds and four assists, while junior Nick Facendo added nine points, seven assists and two steals.

Facendo also hit 3-of-4 free-throw attempts in the final 17.8 seconds to help seal the win.

Junior Pat Andree led CBA with a game-high 30 points, including a putback with 2:08 left that pulled CBA even at 65 - the first tie since the opening tip. Andree is now four points shy of the 1,000-point mark for his career.

Senior Jack Laffey added 14 of his 19 points in the second half for CBA, while junior Jack McGuire chipped in 15 for the game. McGuire had a chance to tie the game from the free-throw line with 4.7 seconds left and made the first shot to cut the deficit to one. After a timeout by the Patriots, his second attempt rimmed out and Facendo knocked down two foul shots on the other end to account for the final score.

Freehold Boro 50, Middletown North 40

Senior Daniel Gewirtz scored a team-high 15 points and the Colonials (4-9, 2-6) beat the Lions (5-7, 4-4) to sweep the season series and also snap a five-game skid.

Ky Watts and Chris Hannigan each added 11 points for Freehold.

 

Class A Central

No. 8 Manasquan 52, No. 5 Rumson-Fair Haven 45

Junior Ryan Jensens scored 20 points and junior Jack Sheehan added 16 as the Warriors (11-3, 6-1) beat the Bulldogs (10-3, 5-2) for the second time this season while also snapping Rumson's seven-game winning streak.

Junior Brendan Barry led Rumson with a game-high 27 points, including 18 in the fourth quarter.

Shore 67, Raritan 52

Senior Kevin Bloodgood scored 24 points to move within 13 of his 1,000th career point and the Blue Devils (10-2, 6-1) topped the Rockets (7-7, 2-5) to keep pace with Manasquan in the Class A Central race. Senior Dan Largey also poured in 17 points, while senior Jack Byrne chipped in 12 for Shore.

Junior Joe Strand led Raritan with 16 points.

Holmdel 61, Monmouth 51

Senior Luke Mayell scored 20 points and the Hornets (5-6, 3-4) took care of the Falcons (0-13, 0-7) in A Central action. Freshman Kyle Cardaci added 14 points for Holmdel, while junior John Miller chipped in 10 in the win.

 

Class B North

Red Bank Catholic 51, Ocean 40

Junior Evan Madigan scored 17 points and the Caseys (9-5, 6-3) rolled to a win over the Spartans (4-8, 2-6). Kevin Fazio added eight points, while Jake Talarico led Ocean with nine on three 3-pointers.

Neptune 57, Matawan 37

Sophomore Barry Brown scored 15 points and senior Micah Kerr added 14 points and eight rebounds to help lead the Scarlet Fliers (6-7, 2-6) to their third straight win. Senior Jason Dunne led Matawan (6-7, 4-4) with 14 points.

 

Class B Central

Keyport 52, Ranney 42

Junior Travis Alvarez scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds to help the Red Raiders (5-5, 4-4) beat the Panthers (4-6, 1-6) and give head coach Phil Recco his 100th career win. Senior Joe Froncek added 11 points, four assists and three steals for Keyport.

Junior James Geraghty led Ranney with 18 points and sophomore Joe Mahoney added 10 in the loss.

 

Non-Division

Central 61, No. 9 Wall 44

Sophomore Elijah Barnes continued his two-year dominance against Wall by scoring 22 points and the Golden Eagles (7-5) handed the Crimson Knights (9-4) their second straight loss after Wall saw its eight-game winning streak snapped Thursday night against Red Bank.

Barnes is a transfer from Freehold Boro, where last year, he led the Colonials to two regular-season wins over Wall as a freshman. Barnes averaged 18 points, 6.5 rebounds and five blocks in those two wins last season.

Manchester 43, Lacey 40 (OT)

Sophomore L.J. Robinson hit a fade-away three-pointer from 23 feet as time expired and the Hawks (9-3) beat the Lions (3-8) in overtime in thrilling fashion.

Robinson finished with 14 points, while junior Shavar Reynolds led Manchester with 16 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, four blocks and two steals. Junior Jordan Torney also added 10 points and four steals in the win, while senior Chris Iapicco led Lacey with 22 points in defeat.

Pinelands 63, Brick 51

Junior Dave Lunn scored 16 points and junoir Luke Stambaugh poured in 15 to help the Wildcats (6-7) beat the Green Dragons (2-11) and snap a four-game losing streak. Junior Will Jenkins added 11 points for Pinelands, while senior Milanj Coursey pulled in a game-high 15 rebounds.

Senior Brian Oehme led Brick with 16 points.

Donovan Catholic 60, St. Rose 39

MIke Boice led four Griffins players in double-figures with 15 points and Donovan Catholic (8-4) coasted to a win over the Purple Roses (6-7). James Fata added 12 points and three steals, while Riley Collins and Tyler McShea each chipped in 10 points.

Collins also grabbed five rebounds, while McShea posted six rebounds and four blocks. Alex Morte handed out eight assists in the win.
