Luke Mayell scored 20 points and John Miller added 11, but the Hornets fell to the host Indians in the Butch Kowal first round. Rahway will play Point Beach in Sunday's tournament semifinals.

Husky Classic Holiday Tournament

At Matawan High School

Old Bridge 56, Mater Dei Prep 42

Tysaun White scored 11 points while Reese Entwhistle and Matt LaPorte each added 10, but the Seraphs fell to the Knights in the Husky Classic opening round.

Tottenville (N.Y.) 39, Edison 36

Manalapan 43, Carteret 42

Junior Scott Scherer hit one of two free throws in the final seconds to break a tie and lift the Braves to a win over the Ramblers in the Husky Classic first round, Manalapan's third straight win to open the season. Senior Kyle Mullen led Manalapan with a game-high 16 points.

No. 2 Matawan 67, College of Staten Island-McKown (N.Y.) 48

Jason Dunne scored 14 points to lead a balanced scoring effort and the Huskies topped College of Staten Island-McKown to advance to a semifinal match-up with unbeaten Manalapan (3-0). Matt Esposito added 12 points and Nick Smith added 11 in the win. Joe Piscopo also chipped in 10 points and three steals for Matawan.

Anthony Fernandez scored 14 points and Travis Alvarez added 13, but the Red Raiders came up just shy against Princeton Day in the first round of the Wardlaw-Hartridge Tournament.

Sophomore Fred Reeves scored 20 points but the Green Wave came up short against the Royal Knights. Freshman Tyree Morris also chipped in 15 points in the loss.
