Class A North

Middletown North 53, Freehold Boro 32

Freshman Rob Higgins scored 24 points to go along with six steals as the Lions rolled through the Colonials. Sophomore Dave Campbell added 10 points and junior John Swift chipped in nine points and 10 rebounds for Middletown North.

Senior Chris Hannigan led Freehold Boro with 11 points.

Marlboro 70, Manalapan 53

Senior Matt Dean scored 20 points and the Mustangs coasted to a win over the Braves to sweep the season series. Junior P.J. Ringel and senior Mike Jastzrebski each added 13 points for Marlboro.

Howell 79, Middletown South 63

Senior Steve Palumbo scored 17 of his 23 points in the second half and junior Jordan Jones pitched in 22 points, five rebounds and seven assists to help the Rebels top the Eagles.

Senior Connor MacLeod also scored 11 points in the win.

 

Class A Central

Raritan 43, Shore 25

No. 6 Rumson-Fair Haven 53, No. 3 Manasquan 48

Senior Brendan Barry scored a game-high 23 points and surpassed the all-time scoring record at Rumson-Fair Haven as the Bulldogs handed the Warriors their first loss of the season.

Barry drilled a three-pointer from the right wing as the halftime buzzer sounded to pass Palvin Williams for the all-time scoring record in the history of the Bulldogs program. Williams's mark stood since 1973 and Barry now sits in first place with 1,426 points.

Rumson took the lead, 49-47, on a pair of free throws by senior Mickey Schluter with 36 seconds left. Manasquan had multiple chances to tie or take the lead on the free throw line but Warriors senior Jack Sheehan made 1-of-2 from the line and senior Ryan Jensen missed the front end of a 1-and-1 after hauling in the offensive rebound.

Schluter followed by making the front end of a 1-and-1 and after a miss on the Manasquan end, senior Colin McDevitt converted a three-point play with seven seconds left to put the game on ice.

Schluter finished with 12 points and sophomore Elijah McAllister blocked six shots despite sitting nearly all of the third quarter with three fouls and fouling out with 2:12 left.

Jensen led Manasquan with 19 points and 15 rebounds while junior Devin Jensen scored all 13 of his points in the second half.

 

Class B North

Matawan 45, Neptune 43

Senior Mergim Gjyiriqi scored 16 points and sophomore Reggie Tawiah added 12 to help the Huskies take down the Scarlet Fliers for the second time this season.

Juniors Barry Brown and Jules Calhoun each scored 10 points to lead Neptune.

No. 8 Long Branch at No. 10 Colts Neck, PPD - TBD

Ocean 62, Red Bank Catholic 53

Senior Scott Bradley scored a season-high 20 points while grabbing seven rebounds and blocking three shots to help the Spartans beat the Caseys.

Senior Yianni Kavarakas added 10 points and senior Manny Padron hit seven free throws down the stretch to ice the game for Ocean.

Junior Terrence Calandrillo led Red Bank Catholic with 11 points.

 

Class B South

Barnegat 42, Jackson Liberty 26

Sophomore Mike Revello scored 20 points and the Bengals topped the Lions for their first B South victory.

 

Non-Division

Brick 69, Pinelands 65

Senior Kenny Buell scored 17 points to go with six steals and the Green Dragons edged the Wildcats. Junior Brandon Williams added 13 points and 10 assists in the win.

Senior Luke Stambaugh led Pinelands with a game-high 24 points and senior Dave Lunn added 22 in the loss.

Manchester 45, Lacey 28

L.J. Robinson scored 18 points and Shavar Reynolds added 14 to help lead the Hawks past the Lions.
