Junior Joe Piscopo scored 21 points and junior Jason Dunne scored 12 of his 20 points during the fourth quarter to lead the Huskies past the Bulldogs and to their first ever NJSIAA sectional championship.

Matawan trailed 29-26 at halftime, but took control of the game with a 14-4 run in the third quarter. The Huskies pushed their lead to 11 late in the fourth quarter before Rumson pulled to within five, 52-47, with a little more than two minutes left. Matawan closed the game on a 15-7 run to seal the victory.

Senior Jack Herrmann led Rumson with 21 points and 11 rebounds in his final game. Junior Brendan Barry added 11 points and junior Morgan Maguire scored all nine of his points during a 13-2 run by the Bulldogs to close out the first half.

Matawan will play South Jersey Group II champion and tradition-rich Camden in the Group II semifinals Thursday at Perth Amboy High School.
