Monmouth University junior safety Mike Basile has been named as a Second Team Preseason All-American by Stats LLC…it’s just the latest honor for the former Brick Memorial High School standout.

Basile set a Hawks record last season with 119 tackles and for the second straight year earned First Team Big South All-Conference honors. Not only did he lead the conference in solo tackles but finished fourth among all FCS players. Just last week the 6’1, 200 pound hard-hitting ball hawk was named preseason all-conference along with five other Monmouth players.

Basile, who added two interceptions and 7 tackles for loss in 2015, has 197 tackles and six interceptions halfway through his Hawks career.   He is among seven defensive starters who return following a 5-6 season.

Monmouth begins preseason practice on Monday, August 8th with the season opener on September 3rd at Lehigh University. That and all Hawk road games can be heard on the Shore Sports Network’s 1160 & 1310AM in addition to a live stream on www.shoresportsnetwork.com.
