Life in Class A North can be thrilling, humbling and worthwhile and the 3-1 week the Marlboro baseball team had last week was evidence of that.

The Mustangs beat two of the best teams in the Shore Conference, lost a game in between and scored 20 runs against a non-division opponent to cap a week that earned the Mustangs the Week Two Jersey Mike's Team of the Week Award.

The week began with Marlboro battling past Christian Brothers Academy, the No. 1 team in the Shore Sports Network Top 10 for each the last two weeks. The game ended with Marlboro senior shortstop Justin Levito lining the game-winning RBI double to the right-center field gap in the bottom of the seventh to give Marlboro the 3-2 win and CBA its first loss of the season.

The Mustangs came back to Earth in the form of a 3-2 loss to a 4-3 Howell team, but did not stay down long. Next up was Manalapan, the which has been ranked in the top five of the Shore Sports Network Top 10 each week so far this season. Marlboro grabbed the lead on a Justin Kapuscinski solo home run in the fifth and sophomore Anthony Montanes went 3-for-3 with his first home run and four RBI to lead the win.

After a strong 2-1 showing in A North during the week, Marlboro went outside the division in a game at St. John Vianney for the Strike Out Autism Challenge and unleashed one of the more dominant offensive displays of the season against a Lancers team off to a promising start in its own right. The Mustangs put up 20 runs in the win, with Levito going 4-for-5 with two home runs and eight RBI while Kapuscinski was 2-for-2 with a home run and five RBI.

Marlboro's week catapulted the Mustangs from unranked to No. 4 in the SSN Top 10 and also contributed to their No. 3 seed in the Monmouth County Tournament, which was seeded on Thursday following the win over Manalapan.
