No. 10 Red Bank Catholic 4, Holmdel 0

The Caseys (6-2, 5-2) scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth off Holmdel starter Jeff Wischerath to beat the Hornets (2-5, 1-4) and make a winner out of senior Jack Kissinger. Wischerath threw a no-hitter against Manasquan in his last start and allowed only four against RBC while giving up four earned runs and walking four (two intentional).

Kissinger also gave up only four hits and struck out 11 in his second shutout victory of the season. Sophomore Evan Madigan went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and drove in the first run on the game with a single that chased home senior Brendan Madigan. Senior catcher Mike Alescio added a two-run single in the sixth inning.

Raritan at No. 8 St. John Vianney - PPD, TBD

 

Class A South

No. 3 Jackson Memorial 4, Southern 1

Junior Ryan Takacs pitched six shutout innings of five-hit ball and the Jaguars (6-1, 5-1) beat the Rams (1-5, 0-5) with two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings. Takacs struck out three and walked two in the win before giving way to Rick Aviles, who pitched a scoreless seventh for the save.

Senior Nick Dabrio tripled and scored on a single by senior Matt Guarino to open the scoring in the fourth. Junior Mike Schmidt went 2-for-3 with a double in the win and senior Mike Petrizzo scored on a balk and walked with the bases loaded to force in a run.

Senior Chris Starner finished 2-for-3 and drove in the lone run for Southern.

Brick 4, No. 5 Toms River North 3 (13 Innings)

Senior Matt Olsen went 2-for-5 with four RBI, including the game-ending RBI single in the bottom of the 13th inning to give the Green Dragons (3-5, 2-4) a hard-earned win and hand the Mariners (4-4, 3-3) their fourth straight loss after a 4-0 start.

Senior Evan Lobato threw 6 1/3 innings of relief to earn the win, allowing no earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out 11.

Toms River North junior catcher Mike Tiplady tied the game at 3 with an RBI double in the top of the seventh as part of a 2-for-6 day at the plate. Olsen gave the Green Dragons a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run double.

No. 2 Toms River East 2, Lacey 1

Senior C.J. Hirschy out-dueled senior right-hander Connor Ronney to improve to 3-0 and the Raiders (5-1, 5-1) edged the Lions (4-4, 2-4) to keep pace with Jackson Memorial and Toms River South in the Class A South standings.

 

Class B North

Neptune at No. 1 Wall - PPD, Thursday, 3 p.m.

Red Bank 4, Long Branch 2

Jacob Nappi gave Red Bank the lead with a two-run single in the fifth and Matt Santos pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless, one-hit relief to lead the Bucs (3-3, 2-2) to a win over the Green Wave (0-8, 0-5) and earn his first varsity win.

Sha'Mere Williams followed a single by Jesse Mack with one of his two singles to set up the scoring in the fifth. Corey Martin capped the scoring by stealing home in the sixth.

Connor Mullan scattered six hits over six innings and struck out two for Long Branch.

 

Class B Central

St. Rose at Henry Hudson - PPD, TBD

 

Class B South

Pinelands 11, Lakewood 0

Cory Burke pitched his second straight complete game with double-digit strikeouts and Mitch Merrill went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI to lead the Wildcats (5-3, 4-2) to a shutout win over the Piners (2-5, 0-4), their fourth straight win overall.

Burke allowed only three hits and walked five while striking out 11 to improve to 2-1. Vinny Bondinello went 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and an RBI for Pinelands, while Rich Rodriguez and Bailey Taylor each had two hits from the bottom two spots in the batting order. Rodriguez finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored, while Taylor was 2-for-3 with triple, two runs and an RBI.

Harry Brown went 2-for-3 for Lakewood.

Old Bridge 8, Monsignor Donovan 4

Frank Vicari and Kyle Malloy each doubled and the Griffins (2-5) plated four runs late, but could not overcome a five-run deficit after four innings against the Knights.

Freehold 7, Chesterfield 4

Ocean 3, Whitesboro (N.Y.) 0

Senior Dan Verderese threw a two-hit shutout with six strikeouts and Frank Henry delivered a two-run single in the second to lead the Spartans (5-2) to a win in Myrtle Beach. Miles Moody also drove in a run and led Ocean with two hits.
