Ralph Gambino pitched a two-hit shutout with a pair of walks and three strikeouts as the Patriots topped the crosstown rival Colonials. Andrew Beam and Matt Gorman delivered back-to-back RBI singles in the second inning to give Freehold Township the lead for good.

Dan Chiusano took the loss for Freehold Boro and allowed two unearned runs on four hits in seven innings of work while walking two and striking out four.

Middletown North at Marlboro – PPD, TBD

Middletown South 9, Howell 5

Junior Ben Porpora blasted a go-ahead two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning and the Eagles (14-2, 10-2) overcame a 5-1 deficit to beat the Rebels (8-8, 5-8) and win their 11th straight.

Porpora finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI and followed up a four-run Middletown South fourth inning with the tie-breaking homer to left field to make it 7-5 in the fifth. He also doubled and scored in the four-run fifth.

Senior Tom Gannon went 3-for-4 with a game-tying two-run double in the fourth and starter Jon Martin re-entered the game to deliver an RBI double in the inning as well. Ian Scheuer pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief of Martin and Joe McLaughlin pitched the final three innings to pick up the win.

Austin Markmann also went 3-for-4 with a run scored for Middletown South.

J.P. Traynor went 2-for-4 with three RBI for Howell, while Troy Miller was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI and Connor Fey also added two doubles. Grant Hackett also went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored in the loss.

Sophomore Brad Brush allowed no hits over seven innings, but the Green Dragons took advantange of his departure in the eighth, when Jake Scott delivered a game-winning single with two out to give Brick an extra-inning win over the Raiders.

Tito Morales pitched seven scoreless, three-hit innings with four strikeouts for Brick before Mike Soldo came on for a scoreless eight to earn the win.

Scott Zhu was 4-for-5 with two doubles, two stolen bases and three RBI to lead the Panthers to a win over the Blue Bishops. Kiran Shah also went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, two RBI and three stolen bases for Ranney, while freshman Ryan Batista was 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

Freshmen Cole Redman and Jacob Field each added a double for Ranney, with Field also driving in three runs and Redman scoring two.

James Geraghty and Ethan Gavin each allowed a run in three innings, with Geraghty earning the win as the starter.

Tim Rossi pitched a three-hit shutout with eight strikeouts and one walk and the Panthers bounced back from their first loss of the season Monday aganist Barnegat by beating the Griffins.

Sam Monaco was 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI and Bill Feehan finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI. Mike Falconetti added an RBI double and Thomas Paul was 2-for-2 with a run scored.

Kyle Malloy lasted three innings for Donovan Catholic and allowed three runs on five hits whiles striking out three.
