Class A North

No. 6 CBA 5, No. 10 Howell 0

Sophomore Luca Dalatri threw a three-hit shutout with a walk and 10 strikeouts and the Colts beat the Rebels to remain unbeaten. Dalatri also one-hit Middletown South on Saturday in his season debut and has now pitched 14 scoreless innings with four hits, two walks and 21 strikeouts.

Pete Papcun went 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Ryan Ramiz also went 3-for-5 in the win. Sophomore Brandon Martorano went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI, while John Moschella went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI for CBA.

Zach Loroesh had two of Howell's three hits and allowed three runs on 10 hits over six innings in taking the loss. Loroesh also struck out four and walked one.

Freehold Twp. 9, Colts Neck 3

Kenny Carrier, Chris Talbott and Nick Cardace had three hits apiece and the Patriots handed the Cougars their first loss of the season. Carrier went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, Cardace was 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, and Talbott finished 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI.

Talbott and Joe Silvestrone each had an RBI single in Freehold Township's five-run second inning.

Senior Joe Ellerman scattered seven hits and allowed three unearned runs while striking out four and walking four to earn his first win of the season.

Mike Antico, Paul Marinello, Tyler Kapuscinski and Gianni Magliaro each had two hits for Colts Neck, with Magliaro contributing a double in the loss.

Manalapan 7, Middletown North 3

Senior Nick Serra allowed only three hits to earn his first win of the season and the Braves won their third straight by beating the Lions. Alex Wolf and Jon Strause each had two hits and an RBI to lead the Manalapan offense.

Middletown South 5, Marlboro 4 (8 Innings)

A balk with two out in the bottom of the eighth inning plated Middletown South senior Andrew Wisialko with the winning run to give the Eagles an extra-inning win over the Mustangs. Wisialko led off the inning with a single and stole both second and third before forcing the game-ending balk.

Sophomore Johnny Zega struck out four in two innings of relief to earn his first varsity win. Senior Kyle Brey and junior Joe Timmins each picked up two hits for Middletown South.

 

Class A Central

Shore 8, No. 7 Red Bank Catholic 5

Junior James Kelly went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI to lead the Shore offense and the Blue Devils jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the middle of the sixth inning before holding on to beat the Caseys. Senior Andrew Schulz also went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI and senior Nick Blaney also drove in two runs.

Red Bank Catholic senior shortstop Al Molina went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in the loss.

Senior Matt Cosentino earned the win on the mound to improve to 2-0.

Monmouth 6, No. 2 St. John Vianney 5

The Falcons scored three runs each in the second and third innings for starter Christian DeFazio, who pitched six strong innings to pick up his first varsity win and help the Falcons hand the No. 2 Lancers their second loss in as many days. DeFazio allowed two runs on five hits and struck out five.

Junior Matt Vincenti went 2-for-3 with a double and a two-run single in the three-run third. Senior Jon Bonczyk finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and junior Jimmy Green added a 2-for-3 day at the plate with a run scored.

Joe Rotelli went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Anthony Santoro finished 1-for-3 with two RBI for St. John Vianney, which stranded the tying run on second base to end the game.

Rumson-Fair Haven 6, Raritan 0

Senior Shane McCarthy pitched a one-hit, 14-strikeout gem to lead the Bulldogs to a win over the Rockets. The Seton Hall University recruit also went 1-for-2 with two RBI at the plate while junior Max Goione went 1-for-3 with a home run in the win.

Holmdel 4, Manasquan 0

Jeff Wischerath threw a no-hitter to improve to 2-0 and lead the Hornets to a win over the Warriors, which just knocked St. John Vianney from the ranks of the unbeaten on Wednesday. Wischerath walked only one and struck out four in the landmark game of his young career.

D.J. Goins ripped a two-run double in Holmdel's four-run third inning, which gave Wischerath more than enough run support. Tyler Fischer also added two hits in the win.

 

Class A South

No. 3 Toms River East 8, No. 4 Toms River North 2

Senior right-hander C.J. Hirschy struck out eight and allowed two runs on eight hits over six innings to help the Raiders hand the Mariners their first loss of the season.

Senior third baseman Charlie Mulé went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored and junior shortstop Jon Meola belted a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning for insurance. Junior Josh Sommerer also went 2-for-4 with a run scored in the win.

Junior Joe Venditto went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored to lead the Mariners. Sophomore shortstop Joey Rose also went 2-for-4, senior Beau Wykoff finished 2-for-3 and junior Mike Tiplady went 1-for-3.

 

Class B North

Freehold 11, Neptune 2

No. 1 Wall 6, Long Branch 0

Brian Wilser and Regan Dombrowski combined on a one-hit shutout and the Crimson Knights remained unbeaten by beating the Green Wave. Wisler allowed just one hit, did not walk a batter and struck out three in 4 2/3 innings. Dombrowski allowed only one walk over his 2 1/3 innings and struck out two.

Junior Ryan Orender went 2-for-3 with an RBI double in Wall's five-run second inning. Juniors Nick Martinez and Dan Wondrack each finished 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in the win.

Matawan 3, Red Bank 2

Junior Billy Rodriguez delivered a bases-loaded single to break a 2-2 tie and give the Huskies a walk-off win over the Bucs a day after squandering a two-run seventh-inning lead in a walk-off loss to Freehold. Rodriguez also tripled and scored on a Luke Adduchio single in the fourth inning to open the Matawan scoring.

Adam Elliot earned the win in relief of starter Nick Smith and tied the game with an RBI infield single in the seventh. Junior A.J Forgione pitched 6 1/3 innings in taking the loss.

 

Class B Central

Keyport 12, Ranney 1

Steven Chandler went 2-for-4 with a double and three runs scored to help his own cause on the mound and the Red Raiders rolled past the Panthers for their first win of the season. Chandler allowed a run on four hits and a walk over four innings while striking out four.

Kyle Mitchell continued his hot start to the season by going 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and four runs scored. Ryan Leary went 2-for-3 with three RBI, Eric Chandler was 1-for-3 with two RBI, and Jonathan Trigg and Rob Trigg each finished 2-for-4 with a run scored.

James Geraghty went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and John Mejia finished 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored for Ranney.

Point Beach 11, Asbury Park 1 (5 Innings)

Antonio Garcia went 4-for-4 with three runs scored to lead the Garnet Gulls to a win over the Blue Bishops and help give Kevin Donnelly his first varsity win on the mound. Sean Struncius ended the game with an RBI single to plate Noah Yates to make the score 11-1 in the bottom of the fifth.

Paul Bacon doubled and scored Asbury Park's lone run.

 

Class B South

Monsignor Donovan 4, No. 9 Central 3

Senior Bryan Mulligan singled through the middle with one out in the bottom of the seventh to plate the winning run in the Griffins' walk-off win over the Golden Eagles. Mulligan finished 3-for-3 in the game and has hit in six straight official at-bats after going 3-for-3 Wednesday in a win over Pinelands.

Freshman Zach Mann retired the final hitter in the top of the seventh to pick up his first varsity win after sophomore Andrew Jarvis scattered nine hits over 6 2/3 innings.

Central scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the inning. Kenny Beyrouty doubled and scored on an RBI bunt single by Javon Hardy to tie the game at two and the Golden Eagles took the lead on an RBI single by junior Frank Rose with one out that plated Jon Forrester with the go-ahead run.

Pinelands 5, Point Boro 1

Senior Cory Burke spun a two-hitter with four walks and 10 strikeouts and the Wildcats snapped a three-game skid by handing the Panthers their first loss of the season. Burke also went 1-for-3 at the plate with an RBI double in the second inning.

Junior Mitch Merrill went 2-for-4 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base, driving in the Wildcats' final run with a single in the third. Vinny Bondinello and David Lunn each had an RBI single in a three-run first inning.

 

Non-Division

Lacey 12, Academy Charter 0

Eric Reitmeyer tripled and scored on a double by Connor Rooney to get Lacey started on a 10-hit attack that sparked the Lions to their third straight win. Pay Loua struck out four and allowed two hits over three innings to pick up the win.
