Baseball – Scran Steps Down as Coach to Become Central A.D.
BAYVILLE - Newly-named Central Regional High School athletic director John Scran told his team Tuesday that he will be stepping down as the coach of the Golden Eagles baseball program to focus on his new position.
Scran was approved as the school's new athletic director on Thursday at the Board of Education meeting.
In eight seasons as Central's head coach, Scran compiled a record of 108-77, which included Shore Conference Class B South division championships in 2008 and 2009. During their 2009 division championship season, the Eagles went a perfect 14-0 in division play during Scran's second season as head coach.
Central also won the Al Kunzman Ocean County Tournament championship in 2014, a tournament named for the late, legendary former coach of the Golden Eagles. The County championship was the first for Central since 1986.
Scran was previously an assistant under longtime Toms River South coach Ken Frank, the state's all-time leader in wins for a head coach.
