Central Jersey Group IV

(6) Monroe 7, (3) Colts Neck 4

Colts Neck rallied from four-run first-inning deficit to tie the game at 4 in the bottom of the fifth inning, but the Falcons scored three runs in the top of the sixth and held on to beat the Cougars.

Tyler Kay went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to lead Colts Neck, while Mike Antico, Tyler Kapuscinski and Sam Devitis each had a hit to round out Colts Neck's five-hit day.

Chris Hernandez went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI while Anthony Parbuto finished 3-for-4 to lead Monroe, which will host No. 15 Marlboro in Tuesday's sectional semifinal. Mario Danza pitched 4 2/3 innings of relief to improve to 7-0 on the mound.

Central Jersey Group I

(6) Shore 11, (3) East Brunswick Tech 0 (6 Innings)

Senior Andrew Schulz struck out 10 in five shutout innings of two-hit ball and was one of three Shore players with three hits as the Blue Devils rode a 15-hit attack to beat East Brunswick Tech and advance to play defending Group I championship Middlesex in the semifinals on Tuesday. Middlesex beat Shore in last year's Central Jersey Group I final.

Schulz went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored, while Dylan Vosk and Clayton Coffey each went 3-for-4 with a run scored, with Vosk adding an RBI. Junior James Kelly also went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI triple in Shore's six-run sixth inning, which closed out East Brunswick Tech via the 10-run rule.

 

South Jersey Group III

(5) Highland 3, (4) Toms River South 2

Senior right-hander Kyle Stinson pitched a six-hit complete game with eight strikeouts, reached base three times and scored two runs to lead the Tartans to a narrow victory over the Indians. Highland will play top-seeded Moorestown in the semifinals on Tuesday.

Designated hitter Tyler Folger lined an RBI single to center field in the bottom of the first to tie the game at 1, and after Highland scored twice in the top of the fifth against Folger - on in relief of starter Chandler Thompson - Austin Gonella delivered an RBI single to score pinch-runner Junior Villamizar to cut the deficit to 3-2. Villamizar pinch-ran for pinch-hitter Jesse Polozzo, who led off the bottom of the fifth with a double to right field.

Thompson allowed one unearned run on two hits with one walk, one strikeout and three hit batters. He was the beneficiary of the first of two outfield assists by right fielder Jake Ryan, who threw out two runners at home plate. He cut down the first trying to tag up on a shallow fly ball to end the fourth and ended the fifth by throwing out second baseman Tom Nolan trying to score on a single by Victor Lebron.

 

First Round
South Jersey, Non-Public A

(4) CBA 5, (13) Pingry 1

The Colts scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to erase a one-run deficit, beat the Big Blue, and advance to the sectional quarterfinals against No. 12 Paul VI.

CBA did all of its fifth-inning damage with two outs, beginning with a two-out double by second baseman Andrew Buccellato. Pinch-hitter Trey Nelson tied the game with an RBI single and his pinch-runner, Brendan Shaw, stole second and scored the go-ahead run on a bunt single by Ryan Ramiz.

Ramiz also stole second base a scored on catcher Brandon Martorano's RBI single to left and first baseman John Moschella capped the inning with an RBI double down the right-field line.

Tyler Montoya allowed an unearned run on two hits over five innings to pick up the win and Kenny Campbell pitched two scoreless innings while allowing two hits and striking out three to close it out.
