Sophomore Justin Kapuscisnki ripped a game-winning RBI single to left field in the bottom of the seventh inning and the Mustangs (5-6, 2-4) pulled out a win over the Colts (7-3, 5-3).

Will Trochiano led off the seventh with a single and pinch-runner Anthony Brienza moved to third on a single by senior Gene Napolitano. With none out,Kapuscinski stepped in and ended the game.

Napolitano was a perfect 4-for-4 with a double, triple and two runs scored and an RBI, while Kapuscinski was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI.

Zach DeRosa earned the win in relief, with freshman David Vignipiano working 4 1/3 innings in his first varsity start.

Junior Nick Hohenstein took the loss for CBA with 1 2/3 innings of relief follow an 87-pitch outing by sophomore Spencer Bauer. In his previous start, Bauer pitched a no-hitter against Neptune.

Hohenstein also doubled and junior Andrea Dalatri drove in two runs.

Manalapan 4, Freehold Twp. 1

Senior Steven Bullen went 2-for-2 with a pair of home runs and three RBI to lead the Braves (10-2, 6-1) past the Patriots (4-5, 3-3) for their ninth straight win. Bullen hit a solo home run in the first, a two run homer in the fourth and also finished with three runs scored. Bullen now leads the Shore Conference with five home runs.

JohnMichael Sabatino pitched a five-hitter with one earned run, one walk and seven strikeouts on 99 pitches to earn the win.

Sophomore Brandon Smith went 2-for- 3 with a run scored and junior Nick Lodispoto drove in the lone Patriots run. Junior Bryan Reed gave up one earned run on four hits and two walks while striking out seven and throwing 92 pitches in the loss.

Sophomore Grant Shulman singled home the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning and the Crimson Knights (9-2) rallied for a walk-off win over the Lions (5-4) for their sixth straight win.

Wall's first two batters of the seventh inning made outs and down to their final out, the Crimson Knights mounted a two-run rally. David Howarth reached on an error, Kevin Lennaper walked, and Teddy Sharkey singled to load the bases. Anthony Velazquez then reached on an error to set up Shulman with the bases loaded and the game tied at 2.

Sophomore Trey Dombroski went the distance to earn the win for Wall, allowing two earned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out three.Dombroski threw 97 pitches for his second win of the week.

Billy Hart went 3-or-3 with an RBI for Jackson Liberty and Dan Dordas and Alex Torres each went 1-for-3 with an RBI in the loss.

Jackson Liberty's pitchers did not allow an earned run Saturday, with junior Matt Pickus taking the loss with 1 2/3 innings of relief. Sophomor Kevin Ritz allowed one unearned run on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings and 96 pitches.

 

No. 8 St. Rose 5, Rumson-Fair Haven 0

Senior Brandon Mology pitched a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts and the Purple Roses (8-0) coasted past the Bulldogs (2-8) to their eighth straight win to open the season.

Joe Volpe went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI and junior Brody Maypother was 1-for-2 with two RBI for St. Rose.
