Monday, July 6

(2) Brick Post 348 12, (7) Lakewood Post 166 0 (5 Innings)

John Zurawski threw a five-inning no-hitter and Post 348 rolled through Post 166 and into the semifinals against defending champion Point Boro. Zurawski, Matt Stadelberger and Nick Sekera helped lead the Brick offense.

(3) Point Boro 11, (6) Mystic Island Post 493 1 (5 Innings)

Josiah Gliddon pitched a two-hitter over five innings and Point Boro defeated Mystic island in a rematch of last year's championship game. Gliddon struck out four and retired the final 10 batters he faced.

Point Boro scored 11 unanswered runs after Post 493 struck for a run in the top of the first and broke open a tie game with a six-run fourth inning that made it 7-1. Ben Herrman smacked a go-ahead two-run single to make the score 3-1 after Kyle Lauria and Gliddon led off the frame with singles. John Duggan capped the inning with a two-run inning of his own.

Lauria sparked a four-run fifth with a leadoff double and scored on an RBI infield single by Gliddon. Ryan Sansone ended the game with an RBI double.

Duggan (3-for-3), Herrman (2-for-2) and and Christian Aurin each (2-for-2) each had a perfect day at the plate, while Lauria and Gliddon each finished 2-for-3.

(5) Donovan Catholic 12, (4) Manchester 6

Matt Morro collected four hits, including a triple, and three RBI as Donovan Catholic upended Manchester to advance to a semifinal date with top-seeded Toms River South. Brandon Zannetti doubled and drove in two and Christian McElroy also added two hits.

Bubba Goble picked up the win on the mound.
