Class A North

Middletown North 4, Manalapan 2

Mike Mercier allowed one earned run on three hits over 6 2/3 innings and the Lions edged the Braves. Seth Ziegler was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI to lead the Middletown North offense.

Marlboro 11, CBA 9

Mark Ventre delivered a tie-breaking, two-run single in the bottom of the sixth and the Mustangs knocked off the Colts in a back-and-forth game. Ventre finished 2-for-3 with three RBI to help lead Marlboro.

Noah Thomas was 2-for-4 with two RBI for Marlboro and Gene Napolitano went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the win. Andrew Gambardella also went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Jeremy Bello earned the win in relief for the Mustangs, who scored eight runs in the first inning before CBA rallied to tie the game at 9.

Nick Hohenstein went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI and Luke Chece also drove in three runs. Evan Menendez also went 2-for-5 with a run scored.

The CBA loss means Middletown South clinches no worse than a tie for the Class A North championship.

Trevor Wagner pitched three innings for the win and the Indians scored on an error in the bottom of the eighth to walk off with a win over the Green Dragons. Matt Shiffer collected two hits, Tom Campo had an RBI single and Ben Montenegro hammered a double for Toms River South.

Brick Memorial 5, Southern 1

D.J. Wilson pitched a three-hitter with six strikeouts and one walk and the Mustangs topped the Rams to remain atop the A South standings. Dylan Evans was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and a three-run double in Brick Memorial's four-run second inning.

Marcos Matias doubled and scored Southern's lone run.

Riley Maypother cracked a two-run triple in a six-run first inning and the Purple Roses rolled to a win over the Admirals. Maypother finished 2-for-5, while Brandon Mology and John Crowley each went 3-for-4.

Keansburg 10, Point Beach 5

Ian Terry threw six solid innings and the Titans doubled up the Garnet Gulls. Terry allowed two runs - one earned - on five hits and four walks while striking out five, and also went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases.

Liam Meyer went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and Gannon Meyer drove in two runs.

Kevin Donnelly homered and drove in three runs for Point Beach.

Jared Kacso pitched a complete game and helped his cause by doubling and scoring the winning run in the bottom of the fifth as the Bengals beat the Lions to get back over .500. Kacso stole third in the sixth and scored when the throw went into left field.

Kacso also stole second in the first after walking and scored on an RBI single by Justin Diefenbach.

Donovan Catholic 6, Manchester 0

Zach Mann threw a no-hitter with one walk and six strikeouts and the Griffins downed the Hawks. Mann's no-hitter was officially the ninth in the Shore Conference this season.

Point Boro 9, Pinelands 2

Mark Leyble belted a grand slam andr drove in five to lead the Panthers to a win over the Wildcats and freshman right-hander Joey Ventresca. Frank Graziano struck out eight and allowed two unearned runs in five innings to earn the win.

Sebastian Severio was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI while Sam Monaco and Bill Feehan each went 2-for-4. Monaco scored two runs and Feehan doubled, scored a run and drove one in.

Lakewood 6, Central 2

Ramon Mercedes threw a complete game five-hitter with eight strikeouts and the Piners took down the Golden Eagles at Leiter Field. Angel Mendez was 2-for-3 with two RBI and Raymond Alvarez also drove in two for Lakewood. Deion Crooks also went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base in the win.
