Monmouth County Tournament - Bracket
Semifinals
At FirstEnergy Park, Lakewood

(8) CBA 3, (13) Freehold Twp. 2

Sophomore Luca Dalatri threw his sixth complete game of the season to improve to 7-0 and the Colts (11-5) scored three runs over the first two innings to give their ace enough support to pitch CBA past the Patriots (14-5) and into the MCT final for the first time since the Colts lost to Freehold Township in the 2009 final.

Dalatri allowed one earned run on five hits, did not walk a batter and struck out nine in the victory, giving him 63 strikeouts against five walks on the season. The earned run he allowed in the top of the sixth was just the fourth against Dalatri this season, two of which were scored by Freehold Township.

CBA scored two runs in the first, when Brandon Martorano and Pate Papcun both singled and first baseman John Moschella drove in Martorano with an RBI single to left that gave CBA a 1-0 lead. Papcun moved to third and scored on two wild pitches by Freehold Township starter Chris Talbott.

The Colts tacked on another run in the second when Griffin Arnott reached on an error, stole two bases and scored on another wild pitch by Talbott.

Talbott settle into the game after the first two innings and finished by allowing just one hit the rest of the way. In six innings, the senior right-hander allowed two earned runs on four hits and three walks - one intentional - while striking out four.

Nick Cardace drove in both Freehold Township runs on two RBI singles, the first in the fourth and the second in the sixth to cut the Patriots' deficit to 3-2. Talbott also went 1-for-3 and scored both runs, while catcher Joe Silvestrone hammered a double down the left-field line in the first inning.

CBA will play in Wednesday night's final at FirstEnergy Park against No. 3 Colts Neck.

(3) Colts Neck 6, (7) Middletown South 5 (11 Innings)

Jordan Gonzalez hammered a two-out, game-winning single to the warning track in left field to score Tyler Kapuscinski from third and give the Cougars a wild win over the Eagles to advance to Wednesday's Monmouth County Tournament final against No. 8 CBA.

Kapuscinski started the winning rally with a two-out triple on a line drive that split the right-center gap and rolled to the wall. Middletown South elected to walk the next two batters - the second after Gianni Magliaro went to second on defensive indifference - and with a 2-and-2 count against Eagles reliever Kyle Brey, Gonzalez turned on an elevated fastball and got it just over the diving reach of left fielder Joe Timmins.

Timmins nearly gave the Eagles the lead in the top of the 11th, but Colts Neck center fielder Mike Antico made a diving catch while running back in the left-center gap for the second out of the inning, forcing Nolan Pereless to retreat back to second base.

Middletown South tied the game with five runs in the top of the seventh inning, most of it against Colts Neck's stellar bullpen. The first run came home on a balk, the next scored on a single by Paul Mariniello and the third on a hit-by-pitch. The next two scored on wild pitches and a sixth nearly scored on another wild pitch in the eighth, but reliever Robbie Warendorf tagged out Zach deRocco at the plate for the final out of the inning. Middletown South coach Ryan Spillane was ejected for arguing the call.

Magliaro struck out nine and walked four in six-plus innings of work, allowing only one hit. He surrendered a leadoff single to Pereless to start the sixth, ending the no-hit bid.
