Class A Central

Red Bank 15, Shore 1 (5 Innings)

John Juco hit a grand slam and drove in five runs and Jack Povey struck out nine in four innings as the Bucs (8-9, 5-7) handled the Blue Devils (5-11, 4-8) to close their Class A Central regular season.

Juco finished 2-for-2 and also doubled and scored three runs. Matt Santos and Jonah Rosen each went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and scored two runs, with Santos driving in two and Rosen knocking in one.

Povey allowed a run on three hits and two walks during hits 75-pitch outing. Povey also went 1-for-1 with two walks at the plate.

Jimmy Malletto and Mike Jelliff each went 1-for-2 with a double for Shore, with Malletto driving in the only run.

 

Class A South

Brick 8, Central 3

John Prato was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and Chris Salsano (2-for-5) and Matt Stadelberger (2-for-4) each collected a pair of hits and a pair of RBI to lead the Green Dragons (12-6, 9-4) past the Golden Eagles (8-9, 6-7). John Zurawski tossed five innings in relief of Mike Soldo to earn the win.

Kirk Montanye single home Matt Miggliaccio in the bottom of the seventh inning and the Hawks (11-8) walked off with a win over the Raiders (2-16).

Jagger Karaska threw three innings and 65 pitches of scoreless relief to earn the win after James Cuber worked the first four on 67 pitches. Karaska struck out five, walked three and allowed three hits.

Danny Mizrachi hit a two-run home run in the top of the second inning for Toms River East, which has lost four games in the bottom of the final inning during its eight-game losing streak.

Middletown North 11, Donovan Catholic 3

Winning pitcher Tyler Ras went 4-for-4 with one of Middletown North's three home runs in the game, which sparked the Lions (11-8) to a win over the Griffins (6-13). Ras drove in three runs, as did Garrett French, who was 3-for-3 with a home run, and Connor Welsh, who finished 2-for-4 with homer.

Eian Gilroy and Matt Morro each went 2-for-3 for Donovan Catholic, with Gilroy hitting a home run and Morro scoring two runs. Bart Goble also went 3-for-4 in the loss.
