Brick 9, No. 7 Jackson Memorial 8 (8 Innings)

Ron Parliament hit a game-winning sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Green Dragons came back from down 8-0 to beat the Jaguars, ending Jackson Memorial's eight-game winning streak.

Jackson Memorial scored eight runs over the first three innings to build an 8-0 lead before and Brick began to chip away with a run in the fifth.

Brick drew even with seven runs in the sixth, led by RBI doubles by Parliament and Nick Moglia. Carmen Sclafani, Dan Berg and Matt Rosace each added an RBI single in the sixth.

Matt Greenberg, Dominick Nesser and Nic Chirichello combined for five scoreless innings of relief to keep the Green Dragons in the game.

No. 8 Toms River South 6, Brick Memorial 1

Ben Montenegro homered and drove in two runs and Jake Ryan also drove in two in a 3-for-4 game as the Indians beat the Mustangs.

Ryan staked Toms River South to a 2-0 lead with a two-run single in the bottom of the first and Montenegro hit a solo home run to right field in the fourth before adding a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.

Trevor Wagner also added an RBI single and scored in the Indians' three-run fifth.

Chandler Thompson allowed a run on four hits over four innings to earn the win on the mound.

Toms River East 8, No. 2 Toms River North 3

Will Johnson hit a tie-breaking, two-run single in the top of the ninth inning to spark a five-run Raiders rally that was enough to beat the Mariners in an extra-inning battle between crosstown rivals.

 

Class B North

Matawan 7, Long Branch 1

Nick Smith threw a two-hitter and went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI to help the Huskies beat the Green Wave. The lone run Smith allowed was unearned.

Bill Rodriguez hit a two-run triple and Matt Esposito added an RBI triple in the win.

No. 3 Colts Neck 5, No. 9 Ocean 1

Chris Murphy struck out 13 and allowed one unearned run on eight hits and three walks to help the Cougars top the Spartans and remain unbeaten in Class B North.

Mike Antico and Tim Cavrak both went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored for Colts Neck. Anthony Bartolmei finished 2-for-4 with a double in the loss.

 

Class B Central

St. Rose 2, Keyport 1

Mike Gowen scored on a ground ball by Joe Volpe in the bottom of the seventh to give the Purple Roses a win over the Red Raiders, their 13th straight victory since an 0-3 start.

J.P. Traynor gave St. Rose a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the bottom of the second before Shane Chandler came back right back with an RBI single in the top of the third. Traynor finished 2-for-3 with a double, while Volpe and Kyle Missry each added a double. Missry also walked three times.

Ryan Scharfenberg allowed a run over six innings in taking the no decision before John Kussmaul came on to pitch a scoreless seventh to earn the win.

Mater Dei Prep 15, Henry Hudson 6

Liam Olausen hit a go-ahead two-run home run to put Mater Dei Prep up 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth and the Seraphs pulled away to beat the Admirals.

Mater Dei broke the game open in the fifth behind a two-run single by Cole Hardy, followed by RBI singles by Patric Donohue and Ryan Fanner. Hardy finished 3-for-5 with a double, triple and three RBI.

Matt Paciulli allowed 2 runs on four hits an one walk while striking out six to improve to 3-1 on the mound.

Brendan Carlstrom went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI to lead Henry Hudson, while Kyle Rauen added a two-run double and Ryan Doegler a two-run triple in the loss.

Keansburg 12, Asbury Park 2 (5 Innings)

Starting pitcher Austin Blum went 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI to help his cause on the mound and lead the Titans to a win over the Blue Bishops. Blum allowed a run on four hits and a walk while striking out four in three innings of work.

Ian Terry went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI, while Tyrell Wilson was 1-for-1 with three RBI in the win. Jim McAteer also went 1-for-2 with three runs scored and allowed one unearned run over the final two innings on the mound.

Point Beach 11, Ranney 1 (6 Innings)

Andrew Allegretta, John Nista and John Daly all went 2-for-2 to lead the Garnet Gulls offense as it helped Point Beach pull away for a win over the Panthers.

Allegretta scored three runs and drove in one, while Daly doubled, drove in three and scored a run. Nista scored two runs and added an RBI.

Tanner Smith also went 1-for-3 with a two-run double, while Antonio Garcia was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and three stolen bases.

Geno Antognoli allowed one unearned run on five hits and two walks while striking out seven to earn the win.

 

Class B South

Manchester 12, Lakewood 1 (5 Innings)

Mark Wernoch and Steve Rodriguez combined to go 6-for-7 with nine RBI and Ryan Bowker pitched a five-inning complete game to earn the win as the Hawks took care of the Piners.

Wernoch finished 3-for-3 with five RBI and Rodriguez was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI. Ryan Vanderham was alsoo 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Pat Williams (2-for-4) and Colton Gesser (2-for-3) each added an RBI as well.

Jackson Liberty 6, Point Boro 2

Mike Zak scattered eight hits and surrendered two runs over five innings to earn his first varsity win and the Lions beat the Panthers for their sixth straight win.

Dylan Milleman and Sean Galvin each went 2-for-3 for Jackson Liberty, with Galvin scoring a run and Milleman driving one in. Howard Taylor alsoo went 1-for-3 with two runs scored in the win.

Sam Monaco was 3-for-4 with a run scored for Point Boro.

Barnegat 9, Donovan Catholic 8

Aaron McLaughlin, Ed Rogan and Max Ritner each doubled in Barnegat's 12-hit attack and the Bengals outlasted the Griffins on the road.

Six of Donovan Catholic's 10 hits went for extra bases, with Kyle Malloy slugging a home run and a double and Steve Lazecki doubling twice in the loss. Russ Petranto and Charlie Dimino also added a double each for Donovan Catholic.

Jared Kacso went the distance on the mound for Barnegat to earn the win.

 

Non-Division

Red Bank 3, Rumson-Fair Haven 0

Nick Massa threw a six-hit shutout and the Bucs topped the Bulldogs in the Battle of Ridge Road rivalry game.

John Juco, Connor Kelly and Matt Santos all went 1-for-3 at the plate, with Juco driving in two, Kelly knocking in one and scoring one, and Santos scoring a run.

Raritan 7, Neptune 0

Jon Guccione threw five shutout innings with six strikeouts and the Rockets blanked the Scarlet Fliers in an inter-division clash.

Tom Pulcine went 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI while Jon Rodriguez finished 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead the Raritan offense.

No. 4 Red Bank Catholic 7, Monmouth 4

Sophomore Aaron Ahn hit his second homer of the year and finished 2-for-2 at the plate with three runs scored to help lead the Caseys to a win over the Falcons.

Mike Spinelli finished 2-for-3 with three RBI and Tom Merlo was 3-for-4 with a double for RBC. Joe Montano picked up the win on the mound with 5 2/3 innings of work.

Matt Vincenti went 2-for-2 with two doubles for Monmouth.

 

Non-Conference

Manasquan 8, Monroe 6

Senior second baseman Matt Patruzo made a diving catch in shallw right field to start a game-ending triple play in the top of the seventh inning and help the Warrior hold on to beat the Falcons.

After making a diving catch, Paturz fired the ball to Kevin Fay at first base for the first out and Kay threw it to shortstop Matt Edwards at second to complete the play.

Manasquan had to hold on after jumping out to an 8-1 lead thanks to an eight-run second inning. Jack Sheehan belted a three-run home run to cap the inning, and Tanner Cowley als had three-run triple in the outburst. Tommy Sheehan also had a two-run single in the inning.
