Ace Outdoor Power Equipment Player of the Week: Southern’s Brandon Barnetti

Every week this season, Shore Conference football fans will get their chance to vote for the Ace Outdoor Power Equipment Football Player of the Week on our website, with more than 180,000 votes already cast in the first seven weeks.

The latest recipient of the fans’ voting is Southern Regional junior kicker Brandon Barnetti, who was the hero of a last-second, 16-13 win over Toms River South in Class A South on the road on Saturday night. Barnetti hit the game-winning 27-yard field goal with 1.6 seconds left in regulation to give the Rams the win to improve them to 3-2 and keep them in the hunt for a spot in the South Jersey Group V playoffs.

The Southern fans made a late push for Barnetti, who earned 37.7 percent of the vote to surge past Freehold Boro running back Josh Dixon, who ran for a career-high 282 yards and five touchdowns in a 33-14 win over Wall.
