The Shore Sports Network put the wraps on the 2015 football season by presenting special individual awards to Anthony Brown of St. John Vianney, Dylan Rogers and Steve Antonucci of Middletown South along with the Eagles team. The Boston College-bound Brown was honored as the SSN Offensive Player of the Year after passing for over 2,300 yards and 34 touchdowns while leading the Lancers to their first state final appearance since 1982.

Rogers was the heart and soul of a Middletown South defense that allowed just 7 points per game and he broke his own school record with 132 total tackles to collect his award as the SSN Defensive Player of the Year.

Antonucci’s 18th season as head coach of the Eagles was among his best and ended in December with a sixth state sectional title, tied for second among Shore Conference coaches. Middletown South finished a perfect 12-0 for the first time since 2005 and the Eagles were the unanimous choice as the SSN’s top-ranked team, a spot they held since the pre-season. They capped off a long list of honors by being proclaimed the #1 team in New Jersey, a rarity for a public school.
