Shore Sports Network is proud to unveil its 2013 All-Shore teams and season-ending award winners featuring the top performers from the 2013 Shore Conference football season.

The All-Shore teams, along with the players and coaches of the year, were selected by a committee consisting of Shore Sports Network's Scott Stump, Bob Badders, Kevin Williams, Ed Sarluca and Matt Harmon.

FIRST TEAM

OFFENSE

QB – Carmen Sclafani, Jr., Brick

Sclafani’s arrival at Brick from Toms River North helped transform the Green Dragons from a 3-7 team into the Central Jersey Group IV champions, their first state championship since 1994. Despite missing two games with an injury, Sclafani still nearly duplicated the feat he performed as a sophomore when he ran for 1,003 yards and passed for 1,211 yards. This season, the All-Class A South selection rushed for 1,194 yards and 16 touchdowns on 193 carries and threw for 705 yards and five touchdowns on 84-for-146 passing. He also played big in big games, rushing for 100 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries and throwing for 101 yards in a 26-15 win over Colts Neck in the Central Jersey Group IV final, and rolling up 197 yards rushing and four touchdowns in a win over Burlington Township in the semifinals. He also ran for 145 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 86 yards and a touchdown in a regular-season win over South Jersey Group IV semifinalist Toms River South. The Green Dragons doubled their offensive output, going from 13 points a game last year to 26 this season, after adding him. Sclafani has a chance next year to be the rare Shore Conference quarterback with three straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons.

 

 

 

RB – Charlie Volker, Jr., Rumson-FH

The 2013 Shore Sports Network Offensive Player of the Year, Volker had the greatest season by any Rumson-Fair Haven running back in history in his first year as the starting tailback. Volker rushed for a school-record 2,108 yards and 24 touchdowns to lead the Shore Conference in rushing and finish ranked second in New Jersey. Selected as the Class A Central Co-Offensive Player of the Year by the coaches, he helped the Bulldogs win their second state sectional title in four seasons, rushing for 93 yards and a touchdown in a 14-6 win in Central Jersey Group II over a Weequahic team that entered undefeated and allowing under three points per game. In the semifinals against Rahway, he ran for a single-game school record 314 yards and four touchdowns, including an 80-yard touchdown run with six seconds left in the game that gave Rumson a 28-21 win. He has received interest from FCS programs.

RB – Larry Redaelli, Sr., Red Bank Catholic

Redaelli was consistently outstanding for the Caseys, rushing for more than 100 yards in 10 of 11 games on his way to 1,660 yards (3rd in the Shore Conference) on 179 carries (9.3 ypc) and a Shore Conference-high 29 touchdowns. Picked by the coaches as the Class A Central Co-Offensive Player of the Year, Redaelli ran for 101 yards against the state’s No. 1 team, St. Joseph-Montvale, in the Caseys’ lone loss in the Non-Public Group III semifinals, and he also piled up 160 yards rushing and three touchdowns in a 45-0 win over Central Jersey Group II champion Rumson-Fair Haven. In the last two seasons, Redaelli rushed for a combined 2,580 yards and 42 touchdowns.

RB – Anthony Gargiulo, Sr., Colts Neck

Colts Neck’s all-time leading rusher, Gargiulo finished second in the Shore Conference with 1,666 yards rushing and scored a school-record 27 touchdowns for his second straight 1,000-yard rushing season as the Cougars won a school-record 10 games and reached their first state sectional final in history. An All-Class A North pick by the coaches, he had a career-high 275 yards and four touchdowns in a playoff win over Neptune and had 160 yards and four touchdowns in a semifinal victory over Nottingham. He also had three touchdowns in a loss to Class A North champion Manalapan. He finished his career with school career records for rushing yards (3,436); touchdowns (47); tackles (367); and starts (31). Also a standout linebacker, Gargiulo led Colts Neck with a school-record 140 tackles, good for second in the Shore Conference, and also had four sacks and an interception return for a touchdown. Gargiulo has an offer from Navy and multiple FCS offers.

WR – Christian Tutela, Sr., Lacey

A two-time, first-team All-Shore selection, Tutela had the best season of any wide receiver in Lacey history while starring on both sides of the ball. He led the Shore Conference with 54 catches and 1,053 yards receiving, and his 14 touchdown catches ranked second in the Shore. He had a season-high eight catches for 182 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to Class A South champion Jackson Memorial and had six games of more than 100 yards receiving. Tutela also ran for 302 yards and two touchdowns on an average of 7.4 yards per carry and threw a pair of touchdown passes on trick plays. Defensively, he had 65 tackles and an interception while playing in the secondary. He also was one of the Shore’s top punters with an average of 36.6 yards per punt. He has received FCS interest.

WR – Mike Gesicki, Sr., Southern

One of the top recruits in New Jersey, the 6-foot-6, 235-pound senior is a two-time, first-team All-Shore selection who finished with 33 catches for 530 yards (16 ypc) and four touchdowns in nine games despite constant double and triple teams on a team that attempted 17 passes per game. An All-Class A South pick by the coaches, Gesicki has verbally committed to Penn State and is also a basketball and volleyball standout. As a junior, he set school records for catches (50), yards (954) and touchdown catches (9) for a Rams team that reached a state sectional final. He also had at least one catch in all 31 games he played in his career, which is a school record, and set school career records for receptions (103) and yards (1,817). He was selected to play in the prestigious U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio on Jan. 4 but will not be attending because of a commitment to basketball.

WR – Saeed Blacknall, Sr., Manalapan

One of the most explosive wideouts in New Jersey, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound Rutgers recruit helped the Braves win their fourth straight Class A North title and reach their third straight state final in finishing 11-1. The two-time, first-team All-Shore selection had 52 catches for 707 yards and a Shore Conference-high 15 catches, which is two shy of the single-season Shore record for touchdown grabs. He had a pair of 100-yard receiving games and also had four games of two or more touchdown catches on a team that averaged 14 pass attempts per game.

OL – Quenton Nelson, Sr., Red Bank Catholic

One of the top offensive line recruits in the country, Nelson is a two-time, first-team All-Shore selection who has verbally committed to Notre Dame. A devastating blocker at 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds, he led the way for an RBC offense that averaged a Shore Conference-high 43.5 points per game and scored a school-record 479 points. The Caseys averaged 279 yards rushing per game and 350 yards per game overall in finishing 10-1 and ranked No. 1 in the Shore Conference for the third straight season while capturing their fourth straight division title. Nelson was also a force at defensive tackle, finishing with 61 tackles and 12 tackles for a loss to earn Class A Central Defensive Player of the Year honors from the coaches. Nelson has been selected to play with the nation’s best in the prestigious U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan 4. in the Alamodome on Jan. 4.

 

 

 

OL – Peter Righi, Sr., Rumson-FH

Righi was the top offensive lineman on a unit that produced the Shore Conference’s leading rusher, Charlie Volker, who had a school-record 2,108 yards. The 6-foot-3, 285-pound senior has verbally committed to Monmouth University. He was an All-Class A Central pick by the coaches for a Bulldogs team that won a school-record 11 games and captured the Central Jersey Group II championship for its second state title in four years and second in school history.

 

 

 

OL – Ryan Wetzel, Sr., Colts Neck

The 6-foot-3, 300-pound senior was the leader of an offensive line that paved the way for 1,600-yard rusher Anthony Gargiulo and an offense that averaged 363 yards and 34 points per game. Wetzel, who has verbally committed to Monmouth University, also was a standout on the defensive line with 61 tackles, three pass break-ups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Colts Neck won a school-record 10 games and reached its first state sectional final in program history.

Another key cog on the Shore Conference’s best offensive line, the 6-foot-5, 270-pound senior helped them average a Shore Conference-best 43.5 points per game and pave the way for 1,600-yard rusher Larry Redaelli on their way to another 10-win season. O’Hara, an All-Class A Central selection by the coaches, has verbally committed to Lehigh University.

 

 

OL – Zach Andrews, Sr., Barnegat

A road grader for a team that won a school-record 10 games while advancing to its first state final in program history, the 6-foot-2, 308-pound Andrews paved the way for an offense that averaged 232 yards rushing and 338 yards overall per game. The All-Class B South pick also helped the Bengals win their second division title in their eight-year program history. He has received interest from multiple FCS programs.

 

 

UT – Joe Wegrzyniak, Jr., Point Beach

A two-way standout on the first Point Beach team to ever win an NJSIAA sectional title, Wegrzyniak was a leader at fullback and linebacker for a Garnet Gulls squad that finished 10-2 to tie the school record for wins. He finished fourth in the Shore Conference with a school-record 1,581 yards rushing along with 17 touchdowns on 177 attempts. In a 12-7 win over Shore Regional in the Central Jersey Group I final, he ran for 138 yards on 25 carries and had the game-clinching first down run in the final minutes. Defensively, he had a team-high 92 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, 6.5 sacks and an interception for a unit that gave up 11 points per game.

UT – Khani Glover, Sr., Jackson Memorial

Another two-way star as a tailback and defensive back, Glover keyed a resurgent season for the Jaguars, who finished 8-3, won the Class A South title, and won their first state playoff game since 2006. Offensively, Glover finished sixth in the Shore Conference with 1,408 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns on 218 attempts and was named the Class A South Offensive Player of the Year by the coaches. His 303 yards rushing in a win over Lacey ranked second all-time in Jackson history and was the second-highest single-game total of any back in the Shore Conference this season. He had eight 100-yard rushing games, including ones against opponents like playoff qualifier Brick Memorial (162); South Jersey Group IV semifinalist Toms River South (110); first-round state playoff opponent Rancocas Valley (157); and South Jersey Group V champion Cherokee (112). Defensively, he had 71 tackles and 3 interceptions in the secondary.

K – Mike Creamer, Sr., Matawan

A two-time, first-team All-Shore selection, Creamer had one of the best all-around seasons by any kicker/punter in Shore Conference history. He made what is believed to be a Shore Conference single-season record 14 field goals on 18 attempts and went 20-for-20 on extra points. He had three field goals of 40 or more yards, including a long of 46. He also kicked the game-winning field goal in three-point victories over Wall and Red Bank to help the Huskies finish 7-3. His 23 career field goals are believed to be second all-time in Shore Conference history behind 1989 St. John Vianney graduate Gil Gutierrez, whose 30 career field goals are second all-time in New Jersey history. Creamer also averaged 37.5 yards per punt with a long of 55 and dropped 11 punts inside opponents’ 20-yard lines.

DEFENSE

DL – Donald Bedell, Sr., Rumson-FH

Headed to Rutgers, Bedell was a pass rushing force off the edge at defensive end for one of the Shore Conference’s top defenses to help the Bulldogs finish 11-1 and win the Central Jersey Group II title. Bedell finished with 90 tackles and 12 sacks for a team that allowed 11 points per game. He saved his best for last, registering three sacks on Weequahic’s final drive in a 14-6 win over the previously unbeaten Indians, who came into the final averaging 39 points per game. His sack on the final play sealed the Bulldogs’ second state title in the last four seasons.

DL – Nick Volpe, Sr., Colts Neck

A defensive force who could play with his hand on the ground and step back and play outside linebacker, Volpe was one of the best in the Shore at getting after the quarterback for a Colts Neck defense that allowed 13 points per game. He finished with 107 tackles, and his school-record 13 sacks ranked fourth in the Shore Conference. He also had seven passes defensed and an interception. Volpe stepped his game up when Colts Neck needed it most, finishing with 9 tackles and 2 sacks in a playoff win over Neptune, registering 10 tackles and a sack in the Central Jersey Group IV semifinals against Nottingham, and finishing with 9 tackles and a sack in the state title game against Brick. Also a tight end, Volpe finished with 12 catches for 220 yards and four touchdowns and was a standout blocker for one of the Shore’s best run games. He has had interest from multiple FCS programs.

DL – Shawn McCord, Sr., Red Bank Catholic

One of the top pass rushers in the Shore Conference, McCord was a force off the edge for a Caseys’ defense that allowed only 7.7 points per game, the second-best mark in the Shore Conference. The defensive end, who was an All-Class A Central pick by the coaches, had 66 tackles, 10.5 sacks and 8 tackles for a loss for the Caseys. In a state playoff win over Immaculata, he had 9 tackles and a season-high 3 sacks, and he added 7 tackles in a win over Central Jersey Group II champion Rumson-Fair Haven.

DL – R.J. Krause, Sr., Manalapan

A three-year starter at noseguard in Manalapan’s 3-4 alignment, Krause was an impact player in the middle for a Braves’ unit that allowed 9 points per game during an 11-1 season in which they won their fourth straight Class A North title and reached their third straight NJSIAA final. Krause finished with 47 tackles, 9 tackles for a loss and a team-high 7 sacks while also consistently tying up multiple blockers at the point of attack to allow Manalapan’s linebackers to roam free and make plays. The All-Class A North selection had 7 tackles and a safety in a win over Middletown South, two sacks and two tackles for a loss in a win over Central Jersey Group IV finalist Colts Neck, and a tackle for a loss in the Central Jersey Group V final against Hunterdon Central. Krause was also a three-year starter at tight end, where he helped pave the way for 1,000-yard rusher Tyler Leonetti and had seven catches for 113 yards and a touchdown.

LB – Ken Bradley, Sr., Jackson Memorial

Selected as the Class A South Defensive Player of the Year by the coaches, Bradley led the Jaguars to a bounceback season that included eight wins, the Class A South title and their first state playoff win in seven years. His 140 tackles were tied for second in the Shore Conference, and he also had 10 tackles for a loss, 7 pass break-ups, and 5 sacks for the season. He had double-digit tackles in every game, including a season-high 17 in a 9-7 win over Central Jersey Group IV champion Brick and 12 against South Jersey Group V champion Cherokee in the sectional semifinals. He also was a strong complement to Khani Glover at running back, finishing with 431 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns. He has received FBS and FCS interest.

 

 

LB – Chris Noesges, Sr., Manalapan

The 2013 Shore Sports Network Defensive Player of the Year, Noesges was the leader of a defense that allowed nine points per game in an 11-1 season as he finished with 130 tackles (4th in the Shore) along with 14 tackles for a loss, an interception and two fumble recoveries. Selected as the Class A North Defensive Player of the Year, Noesges finished his career as Manalapan’s all-time leading tackler. He had 11 tackles and two tackles for a loss in a win over Class A South champion Jackson Memorial, finished with 16 tackles and two tackles for a loss in a playoff win over Brick Memorial, followed that with 14 tackles and two tackles for a loss in the Central Jersey Group V semifinals against Sayreville and then had a season-high 18 tackles and an interception in a loss to Hunterdon Central in the state final. Noesges has received interest from Ivy League schools and other FCS programs.

LB – Dan Loizos, Sr., Ocean

The top player on an Ocean defense that allowed 12 points per game to help the Spartans win the Class B North title and finish 10-1, Loizos led the Shore Conference with 159 tackles and also had 16.5 tackles for a loss and 5.5 sacks. Selected as the Class B North Defensive Player of the Year by the coaches, Loizos was a four-year starter for the Spartans, whose only loss was to Central Jersey Group III champion Hopewell Valley. He had a career-high 22 tackles in a playoff win over Warren Hills in the first round of the Central Jersey Group III tournament. Loizos was also a fullback who helped pave the way for 1,400-yard rusher Tyler Thompson.

 

 

 

LB – Jamie Gordinier, Jr., Red Bank Catholic

One of the rising stars in the Shore Conference, Gordinier had a breakout year as a junior after seeing time as a sophomore. An All-Class A Central pick by the coaches, Gordinier finished with 86 tackles, 8 pass break-ups, 8 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks while seeing time at linebacker and defensive end on the best defense in the Shore Conference. He had 9 tackles in a win over South Jersey Group III semifinalist Manasquan, registered 12 tackles  and a tackle for a loss in a state playoff win over Immaculata, and then had 11 tackles against the state’s top team, St. Joseph-Montvale, in the Non-Public Group III semifinals. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound junior currently has offers from Miami, Boston College, Rutgers, Pittsburgh and Old Dominion.

DB – Noah Yates, Sr., Point Beach

A great all-around athlete, Yates was a ball hawk as a free safety in the secondary for a Point Beach team that went 10-2 and won the Central Jersey Group I title for its first state championship since the playoff system began in 1974. Yates led all of New Jersey with nine interceptions, including three that he returned for touchdowns in addition to making 36 tackles. He had a single-game school-record four interceptions in a win over Keansburg during the regular season. He also had 23 catches for 398 yards and six touchdowns at wide receiver. Yates was also a starter on the Point Beach boys basketball team that made school history by winning the Group I title last season, and he also is a standout pitcher on the baseball team. He has received Ivy League interest for football.

 

 

DB – Mike Basile, Sr., Brick Memorial

A two-time, first-team All-Shore selection, Basile was a sideline-to-sideline force at safety for the Mustangs, who went 6-4 and made a state playoff appearance. He had 88 tackles, including 51 solo tackles, broke up 8 passes, had 3 tackles for a loss, recovered 3 fumbles, forced a fumble and had an interception. In a 14-13 loss to Central Jersey Group V finalist Manalapan in the playoffs, he had 18 tackles. Also a running back, he had 540 yards rushing and four touchdowns on 59 carries (9.2 ypc). He has offers from multiple FCS programs.

DB – Thomas Martello, Sr., Rumson-FH

A versatile talent who fought through a mid-season broken hand to be a force for Rumson, Martello (#29 above) finished with a team-high 127 tackles (4th in the Shore) in 11 games for a team that went 11-1 and captured the Central Jersey Group II title. Martello began the season at linebacker but was moved to strong safety in the middle of the season after a season-ending injury to starter Chris Hubler. He didn’t miss a beat despite also wearing a cast on his hand for the second half of the season, registering 18 tackles in a 28-21 win over Rahway in the state sectional semifinals and helping the Bulldogs stifle Weequahic 14-6 in the final. He added 8.5 sacks for the season. Also a standout student, he has applied early decision to Johns Hopkins University.

DB – Darrius Hart, Sr., Toms River South

A shutdown cornerback with good size, Hart finished second in the Shore Conference with 7 interceptions this season, one of which he returned for a touchdown in a state playoff victory over Moorestown. The Indians finished 8-3 for their most wins since 2002 and won their first state playoff game in 10 years. Also an explosive wide receiver, the 6-foot-2 Hart had 27 catches for 467 yards (17.3 ypc) and 6 touchdowns on offense. He has generated interest from multiple FCS programs.

 

 

 

UT – Ray Fattaruso, Jr., Brick

One of the top two-way players in the Shore Conference, Fattaruso was a catalyst in Brick’s drive to the Central Jersey Group IV title, its first state title since 1994 and the seventh in the program’s proud history. He was one of two 1,000-yard rushers for the Green Dragons, joining quarterback Carmen Sclafani. Fattaruso ran for 1,095 yards and 14 touchdowns on 218 carries and stepped up in big games, rushing for 203 yards and a touchdown in a win over Burlington Township in the Central Jersey Group IV semifinals, putting up 192 yards and three touchdowns on West Windsor North in the first round of the playoffs, and scoring the game-winning touchdown with under three minutes remaining in a 26-15 win over Colts Neck in the championship game. He also had 112 yards rushing and three touchdowns in a win over South Jersey Group IV semifinalist Toms River South and 103 yards rushing and a touchdown in a two-point loss to Class A South champion Jackson Memorial. He also was a force at linebacker and as an edge rusher, finishing with 78 tackles and a team-high 10 sacks as well as an interception and two forced fumbles. He had six sacks in three state playoff games, including a huge one inside the final two minutes against Colts Neck in the state final.

UT – Aliem Shaw, So., Matawan

One of the top young defensive players in the Shore Conference, the 6-foot, 185-pound Shaw burst onto the scene as a sophomore this fall as part of one of the top defenses in the Shore. He had a team-high 111 tackles and led the Shore Conference in sacks (17) and tackles for a loss (30) for a Matawan defense that did not allow more than 23 points in any game this season and held opponents to an average of 9 points per game. He had six games of multiple sacks, including 13 tackles and three sacks in a 7-3 loss to Class B North champion Ocean. Shaw also played running back for the Huskies, finishing with 121 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

 

 

 

P – Mike Caggiano, Jr., Manalapan

One of the top combo kicker/punters in New Jersey, Caggiano was a force on the best special teams unit in the Shore Conference for a team that won its fourth straight division title and reached its third straight state sectional final. The All-Class A North selection averaged 34.3 yards per punt with a long of 56 yards and dropped 12 punts inside the opponents’ 20-yard line. As a kicker, he blasted 40 touchbacks out of 74 kickoffs and led all Shore Conference kickers in scoring by going 57-for-60 on extra points and 3-for-6 on field goals.

SECOND TEAM

Offense

QB – Tymere Berry, Jr., Toms River South

The Indians’ junior quarterback threw for 1,090 yards with eight touchdowns and ran for 815 yards and 11 touchdowns on a team that scored 32.8 points per game, finished 8-3 and advanced to the South Jersey Group IV semifinals.

RB – Tyler Thompson, So., Ocean

Thompson posted his second straight 1,000-yard season to start his career by rushing for 1,481 yards and 18 touchdowns (19 total) on a 6.7 yards-per-carry average, helping the Spartans (10-1) win the Class B North division title and advance to the Central Jersey Group III semifinals.

RB – Tyler Leonetti, Sr., Manalapan

The Braves senior ran for 996 yards and 14 touchdowns, averaging 6.2 yards per carry over 11 games in helping Manalapan (11-1) win the Class A North division title and advance to its third straight sectional final. Leonetti also had one receiving touchdown.

RB – Otis Kearney, Sr., Toms River South

Kearney ran for 1,107 yard and nine touchdowns on a a 7.8 yards-per-carry average to help the Indians to their best season in a decade, as they finished 8-3 and reached the semifinals of the South Jersey Group IV playoffs.

WR – Joey Schultz, Sr., Howell

As the main target in the Rebel’s spread passing attack, Schultz caught 47 passes for 786 yards and 12 touchdowns, including a long of 80 yards, while averaging 16.7 yards per catch.

WR – Julanee Prince, Sr., St. John Vianney

As the favorite target of Lancers quarterback Billy DeMato, Prince hauled in 50 passes for 725 yards and 11 touchdowns.

WR – Jake Betkowski, Sr., Middletown North

Betkowski set a program record for single-season receptions with 54, tied for first in the Shore Conference, for 686 yards and six touchdowns while also running for 167 yards. He intercepted three passes as a defensive back.

OL – Matt McGovern, Sr., Lacey

The 6-foot-3, 230-pound senior anchored the offensive line on a Lacey team that averaged 370 yards per game. He delivered 22 pancake blocks while offering pass protection for a Lions unit that averaged 250 passing yards per game. On defense, McGovern recorded a team-best 66 tackles, including 10 for a loss, along with two sacks.

OL – Chris Okupski, Sr., Shore Regional

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Okupski was the top offensive lineman on a Blue Devils squad which averaged 236 rushing yards per game, won the Class B Central division title and advanced to the Central Jersey Group I final for the second straight season with an overall record of 10-2. He is committed to the University at Albany.

OL – Sean Struncius, Sr., Point Beach

A three-year starter who was instrumental in the rise of a program that captured the Central Jersey Group I sectional title, the first in program history, Struncius helped pave the way for over 2,500 yards rushing, including a single-season program record 1,581 by Joe Wegrzyniak. On defense, he made 72 tackles, including 14 for a loss, with five sacks, one interception and two fumble recoveries.

OL – Joe Sellmeyer, So., Manalapan

As a first-year starter, Sellmeyer was the top offensive lineman on a Braves team that finished 11-1, won the Class A North division title and reached a sectional final for the third consecutive season. He blocked for a running game that averaged 168 yards per game.

OL – Brendan Kelly, Sr., Toms River South

The Indians’ center helped lead a rushing attack that ran for over 2,000 yards on an offense that averaged 32.8 points per game. Toms River South finished 8-3 and reached the South Jersey Group IV semifinals.

UT – Joe Murphy, Sr., Manasquan

Murphy powered the Warriors’ running game with 1,038 yards and 11 touchdowns while averaging five yards per carry. He totaled 43 tackles and two interceptions on defense at linebacker.

UT – Brian Miller, Sr., Shore Regional

Miller ran for 1,080 yards and 11 touchdowns for a Blue Devils team that averaged 236 rushing yards per game, won the Class B Central division title and reached the Central Jersey Group I final for the second season in a row. He also was a standout linebacker.

K – Jake Monteiro, Jr., Shore

The junior went 37-for-39 on extra points and 9-for-12 on field goals with a long of 47 yards, tied for the longest field goal in the Shore Conference this season, for the Class B Central champs and Central Jersey Group I finalists. His 17 career field goals are a Shore Regional school record, and his nine field goals are a single-season school record.

Defense

DL – Mike Halawani, Sr., Ocean

A disruptive force off the edge on a defense that allowed 12 points per game, Halawani finished with 116 tackles, including 23.5 for a loss, with nine sacks, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries for the Class B North champs.

DL – Mason Fazekas, Sr., Southern

Fazekas was second on the Rams with 68 tackles (41 solo) while posting a team-best nine sacks on a Southern unit that led Class A South in points allowed at 14.2 per game. His nine sacks are the second highest single-season total in Rams history.

DL – Tayler Hendrickson, Sr., Middletown South

Hendrickson was an All-Class A North selection for the second straight season and will continue his career at the University of Pennsylvania.

DL – Kevin Clayton, Sr., Rumson-FH

Clayton made 82 tackles and had 9.5 sacks to help Rumson allow just 11.2 points per game and take home the Central Jersey Group II championship, the second in program history. He also had 140 yards receiving and one touchdown.

LB – Jake Lombardo, Sr., Brick Memorial

The leading tackler on a Mustangs team that allowed 16.3 points per game, Lombardo finished with 121 total tackles (51 solo) and also recorded eight tackles for a loss, one sack, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and three pass breakups.

LB – Manny Bowen, Jr., Barnegat

An extremely versatile player for the South Jersey Group III finalists and Class B South champs, Bowen made 78 tackles with 15 for a loss, recorded 2.5 sacks and had 22 quarterback hurries on his way to being named the Class B South Defensive Player of the Year by the coaches. He also intercepted four passes, forced four fumbles and had three fumble recoveries. On offense, Bowen caught 25 passes for 479 yards and seven touchdowns, and also ran for two touchdowns.

LB – Russell Messler, Sr., Toms River South

Despite missing 3 1/2 games due to injury, Messler finished with 107 tackles, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries for an 8-3 Indians team that reached the South Jersey Group IV semifinals. Also Toms River South’s kicker, Messler was 4-for-7 on field goals with a long of 47 yards, and also went 31-for-32 on extra points. He also scored three touchdowns on offense.

LB – Ryan Schoer, Sr., Red Bank Catholic

The Caseys senior registered a team-best 90 tackles with 1.5 sacks, 15 quarterback hurries, one interception, four passes defended and one fumble recovery on a defense that allowed 7.7 points per game, helping top-ranked RBC win the Class A Central division title and finish 10-1.

DB – Royal Moore, Jr., Ocean

Moore intercepted five passes for the Spartans, who allowed 12 points per game in winning the Class B North division title and reaching the Central Jersey Group III semifinals. As the team’s quarterback, Moore threw for 533 yards and seven touchdowns and ran for 480 yards and three touchdowns.

DB – Mike Cordova, Jr., Red Bank Catholic

The junior recorded 69 tackles with two for a loss and also intercepted five passes and defended 18 passes. He was also second on the team with 11 total touchdowns as a running back.

DB – Amir Tyler, So., Lakewood

The Piners sophomore made 91 tackles, intercepted three passes, forced and recovered three fumbles each, scored one defensive touchdown, recorded one safety and also blocked three field goals to help Lakewood reach the Central Jersey Group II semifinals. He also ran for 591 yards and seven touchdowns.

DB – Matt Castronuova, Jr., Jackson Liberty

Castronuova finished with 67 tackles, including 54 solo and six tackles for a loss. He forced three fumbles, recorded one sack and intercepted two passes, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

UT – Vinny Celidonio, Sr., Jackson Memorial

The Jaguars senior finished second on the team with 123 tackles (46 solo, six for a loss) while also recording four sacks for the Class A South division champions. He added one interception and also scored two rushing touchdowns on offense in addition to serving as the team's punter.

UT – Blaine Birch, Sr., Manasquan

Birch was the Warriors’ leading tackler with 123 (78 solo) while also forcing and recovering two fumbles each and posting three sacks with one interception and two pass breakups. He also saw time at fullback on offense.

P – Hunter Daly, Jr., Neptune

Daly averaged 41 yards per punt and also was a weapon at placekicker for the Scarlet Fliers. He went 20-for-22 on extra points and booted seven field goals, which ranked third in the Shore Conference, while also hitting 12 touchbacks.

THIRD TEAM

Offense

QB – Cinjun Erskine, Jr., Barnegat

In his first full year as the Bengals’ starting quarterback, Erskine completed 55 percent of his passes for 1,119 yards and 15 touchdowns and ran for 652 yards and six touchdowns to lead Barnegat to the Class B South division title and the first sectional final appearance in program history.

RB – Chad Freshnock, So., Middletown North

In combining with freshman quarterback Donald Glenn in a young and potent Lions backfield, Freshnock ran for 1,056 yards and 11 touchdowns and averaged six yards per carry. He also had one receiving touchdown.

RB – Matt Gudzak, Sr., Toms River East

Gudzak ran for 1,000 yards for the second straight season, compiling 1,043 yards and 12 touchdowns with a 7.1 yards-per-carry average. He added 133 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He also made 54 tackles and intercepted one pass on defense.

RB – Jeremy Concepcion, Sr., Middletown South

Concepcion finished the season strong, piling up 820 of his 924 yards and 11 of his 12 touchdowns in the final five games, and he was the only Shore Conference rusher to go over 100 yards against top-ranked Red Bank Catholic all season.

WR – Isaiah Akers, Sr., Central

Akers caught 34 passes for 514 yards and six touchdowns while playing in just eight games for the Golden Eagles because of injuries.

WR – Joe Fittin, Sr., Manasquan

Fittin was the Warriors’ leading receiver with 32 catches for 478 yards and two touchdowns. He also recorded 29 tackles with seven pass breakups and one interception on a defense that allowed 12.5 points per game.

WR – Kashaun Barnes, Sr., Manchester

Barnes caught 31 passes for 401 yards and four touchdowns, and also ran for 264 yards and one touchdown and threw for 379 yards and three touchdowns for the Hawks.

OL – Matt Proto, Sr., Shore Regional

The 6-foot-2, 275-pound senior was a key cog in a Blue Devils’ rushing attack that averaged 236 yards per game. He notched two sacks and one fumble recovery on defense.

OL – Matt Ulufanua, Sr., Brick

The top offensive lineman on a Green Dragons squad that averaged 220 rushing yards per game and captured the Central Jersey Group IV title, the programs' first sectional title since 1994, Ulufanua helped pave the way for a pair of 1,000-yard rushers. On defense, the senior made 52 tackles with six for a loss, recorded three sacks and added one interception.

OL – Sam Madden, Jr., Barnegat

The 6-foot-7, 335-pound FBS recruit contributed to a Bengals rushing attack that averaged 232 yards per game and had three different players run for over 600 yards.

OL – Monte Sinisi, Sr., Manasquan

Sinisi was a leader on an offensive line that blocked for 1,000-yard rusher Joe Murphy. He also was a standout on a defense that allowed 12.5 points per game, making 67 tackles, recorded nine sacks and had two pass breakups and two forced fumbles.

OL – Sam Mistretta, Sr., Jackson Memorial

Mistretta helped pave the way for running back Khani Glover to run for over 1,400 yards as the Jaguars, the Class A South champs, averaged 236 rushing yards per game.

UT – Cole Mehr, Sr., Ocean

A do-it-all threat for the Class B North champion Spartans, Mehr ran for 383 yards and five touchdowns with an 8.7 average, caught 14 passes for 301 yards and four touchdowns and returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

UT - Tysaun White, Jr., Mater Dei Prep 

White was a rushing and receiving threat for a Seraphs team that had its first winning season since 1999 and reached the Non-Public Group I semifinals. He had 11 touchdowns between rushing, receiving, special teams and on defense in the secondary.

K - Matt Mosquera, So., Middletown South

Mosquera was outstanding in his varsity debut at kicker, finishing a perfect 40-for-40 on extra points and hitting five field goals with a long of 39 yards. He also was the team's punter.

Defense

DL – Hunter Baillie, Jr., Long Branch

Baillie made 71 tackles, including 10 for a loss, while recording nine sacks and one forced fumble for a Green Wave defense that yielded just 10.1 points per game.

DL – Mo Diawara, Sr., Lakewood

The Piners senior made 55 tackles and recorded 14 sacks to go along with four forced fumbles, three fumble recovers and 10 pass breakups on a team that reached the Central Jersey Group II semifinals.

DL – Greg Moran, Sr., Barnegat

A three-year starter, Moran finished his senior season with 56 tackles, including 24 for a loss, along with 4.5 sacks and 27 quarterback hurries. He was also an offensive lineman on a team that averaged 232 rushing yards per game.

DL – Tyquis Davis, Jr., Asbury Park

Davis recorded 15 sacks, the second-highest total in the Shore Conference, to go along with 58 tackles for a Blue Bishops defense that allowed just 9.1 points per game to lead the program to the Central Jersey Group I semifinals.

LB – Connor Mullan, Jr., Long Branch

Mullan was the leading tackler on a Green Wave defense that allowed 10.1 points per game. The junior finished with 115 tackles, one interception and five pass breakups.

LB – William Wells, Sr., Asbury Park

The Blue Bishops senior finished with 120 tackles and intercepted one pass to lead a defense that surrendered just 9.1 points per game on his way to earning Class B Central Defensive Player of the Year honors.

LB – James Juliano, Jr., Brick

Juliano led the Central Jersey Group IV champion Dragons with 107 tackles (75 solo) and 14 for a loss. He also recorded two sacks.

LB – James Bedell, Jr., Shore Regional

Bedell was the leading tackler (97) on a Blue Devils' defense that allowed a Shore Conference-low 77 points during a 10-win season that included a Class B Central title.

DB – Rob Triano, Sr., Brick Memorial

On a Mustangs defense that allowed just 16.3 points per game, Triano made 48 tackles and led the team with 13 pass breakups and three interceptions. He also ran for 722 yards and eight touchdowns and threw for 258 yards as the Mustangs' quarterback.

DB – Vinny Grasso, Sr., Msgr. Donovan

The Griffins senior made 77 tackles, forced three fumbles and recovered two. As Monsignor Donovan’s quarterback, Grasso threw for 552 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 797 yards and 10 touchdowns.

DB – Ricky Gerena, Jr., Barnegat

The Bengals junior finished with five interceptions and six pass breakups. He also caught 10 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 153 yards and two touchdowns.

DB -- Myson Pennington, Sr., Long Branch

Pennington intercepted three passes and had four pass breakups while making 36 tackles for a Green Wave defense that allowed 10.1 points per game.

UT – Sam Shaud, Sr., Rumson-FH

Shaud caught 18 passes for 317 yards and six touchdowns and ran for 192 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries for the Central Jersey Group II champion Bulldogs. He made 49 tackles and intercepted three passes on defense. Shaud caught an 85-yard touchdown pass in Rumson’s 14-6 win over Weequahic in the Central Jersey Group II final.

UT – Nick Tomkins, Sr., Matawan

Tomkins, who is committed to Dartmouth, made 70 tackles, 19 of which came for a loss,  and recorded nine sacks for a defense that gave up just 8.9 points per game. He also recorded an interception, forced fumble, fumble recovery, two pass breakups and scored one defensive touchdown. Tomkins was also the Huskies' tight end, where he had 7 catches for 50 yards and a touchdown.

P – Pat Toomey, Sr., Red Bank Catholic

Toomey averaged 37.7 yards per punt with 10 punts inside the 20-yard line and also went 58-for-62 on extra points and 2-for-5 on field goals with a long of 30. As the Caseys quarterback, Toomey threw for 413 yard and three touchdowns.
